College Student Shoots, Kills Home Invader

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- A group of college students said they are lucky to be alive and they’re thanking the quick-thinking of one of their own. Police said a fellow student shot and killed one of two masked me who burst into an apartment.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Jones met with one of the students to talk about the incident.

“Apparently, his intent was to rape and murder us all,” said student Charles Bailey.

Bailey said he thought it was the end of his life and the lives of the 10 people inside his apartment for a birthday party after two masked men with guns burst in through a patio door.

I am for moderate gun control, but am also willing to accept reasonable uses of a gun in self defense. This is a pretty clear cut case, where the possible consequences of using a gun far outweighed the possible consequences of not using a gun.

It's also likely this guy has trained himself with his gun (though I might be interested to know whose bullets hit the wounded girl) and that is something all people who own a gun for defensive use should do to avoid accidents.

Good job on his part for decisiveness and choosing the best possible course of action in a very bad situation.

In which case the criminal would have still died, however it would have been more likely that the criminal would have had a gun and shot everyone first.
