CNN Guest Host Claims The Electoral College Is Rooted In Slavery

The Southern states were given extra electoral college votes for their slaves. That is a historical fact, no matter how much a MAGA troll like you tries to spin it.
Technically, the 3/5 compromise was to give certain states more representation in the House.

Modernly, the current interpretation of the 14th Amendment (counting all "persons") does the same thing.

Slavery has nothing to do with the Electoral College now.
"Now", huh? Well...this is a huge departure from what you said in post #1.

I'll accept you concession that the premise of your OP was wrong.

You have to go waaaay out in the weeds to make any claims that it once had anything to do with it.
No, I don't....I already showed you how it changed U.S. history -- it prevented John Adams' re-election in 1800.

The simple fact that slaves were once counted in the census has jack-squat to do with our presidential elections.
And the election of 1800 proves you wrong. 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️

Actually, the 3/5 Compromise was also intended to give Southern states more EC votes as well.

And it definitely worked in their favor in the heavily disputed election of 1800.

Modernly, the current interpretation of the 14th Amendment (counting all "persons") does the same thing.
As it should. Because the 14th Amendment made former slaves U.S. citizens.

Madison’s convention notes are “bogus talking points”? Good reminder that civic education in this country is in the shitter.
If it isn't an official law it's essentially moot. I could care less what James Madison wrote on a piece of paper.
They amount to nothing more that arguments that weren't voted on.
Somebody may have raised the issue, but the fact that he put it in his notes doesn't mean it holds weight in a court of law.

You're not educated, you are SUBVERTED.
BRAINWASHED.
INDOCTRINATED.
What's funny is that when your Marxist masters filled your mush brain full of anti-American propaganda, you didn't have an ounce of critical thinking and common sense to question the crap you were being fed. NOPE.
You enthusiastically lapped it all up.
Now you're all sorts of proud of your misperception that you know it all.
The reality is that you're nothing but a demented avenger subverted demoralized Stalinist Marxist Leninist zombie ASSHOLE.
Congratulations.
Actually that one is just a useless troll.

Not really.

Slavery wasn't the purpose of the electoral college like you claim.

The fact that the counting of slaves in the census took place at one time, and became an issue, has nothing to do with the purpose of the electoral college.

That's not true. Women and men without property were still included in the EC count.

Because they were still U.S. citizens......slaves were not.
and yet you support counting illegals and non-citizens n the count now. and yes, you said because they couldnt vote.

And so did every Republican before your racist god Trump came along.....

You remember the ancient year of 2015? Before the Republican Party went total Nazi?

you are a hypocrite. claiming something from the past was wrong yet supporting the exact same thing in the present.

Sure, very hard to figure out what bearing the authoritative first-hand account of the decision-making at the Constitutional Convention would have on our understanding of the reason we have an electoral college.

Which, for the record, was slavery.

The Founding Fathers created the 3/5s rule for a very good reason.

All people, PEOPLE, in the US were to be counted in the Census, which is for the purpose of Apportionment..... How many CongressCritters each area gets. There was no such thing as an "Illegal Alien" back then

Blacks, in the dimocrap scum South weren't allowed to vote. Period. So, if we had counted each Slave as a whole unit, that would have given the Slave Owning dimocrap scum more power in Congress. And the People they were meant to serve, weren't allowed to vote.

Get it?

Which ain't no-how right. It would have given Slaver dimocrap scum the ability to stop the Abolitionist movement dead in its tracks.

So they compromised. Each Slave would count as 3/5s of a unit. Giving the slavers less power but also giving money for public works, etc to an area with the right number of people.

It was making the best of a bad situation.

Just in case it comes up, now you know

Nah. You're just rationalizing this so you can scream racism again.

You're the biggest hypocrite....because deranged, brainwashed MAGAs like you did not give a flying **** about this issue before Trump came along.

Just like you didn't care about mail-in ballots 10 years ago before Trump. Just like you didn't care about tariffs 10 years ago before Trump.

And you know it, sicko.

Slavery was racist, yes. Controversial statement in today’s GOP, I know.
Yep. Mention slavery and electoral college in the same sentence and your conspiracy has legs.

I would congratulate you on original thinking if I didn't know that this shit is something that was spread around by the usual leftist chicken-shit suspects that spread every other hoax.

LOL you are such a moron, I have always been against those things but 10 years ago your party wasnt cheating like they do now so it wasnt a problem except counting illegals and immigrants that cant vote was always a problem that you support because it helps you cheat. Mail in ballots wasnt a problem 10 years ago because the rules hadnt been illegally changed at the last minute to allow rampant fraud to occur and Tariffs have always been used to correct problems with trade imbalance you ******* moron.

Here you go, the EC’s origin story:

“The right of suffrage was much more diffusive in the Northern than the Southern States; and the latter could have no influence in the election on the score of the Negroes. The substitution of electors obviated this difficulty and seemed on the whole to be liable to fewest objections.”

Keep at it and someday you’ll know enough American history and civics to pass the citizenship test.
