I don't think the "garbage" comment is important. Nobody pays attention to what he says any more.

The ads that I think might be most effective are the first-person ads, featuring people who actually look normal, saying that they voted for Trump before but are now switching sides.

I don't think these people are real. They came from central casting and are reading from cue cards, but they look legit.
