Close the USPS, cut 600,000 people and 30,000 offices?

Like over a half million career jobs in the u.s. post office. Good paying jobs with benefits, retirement etc. This kills republicans to no end. These jobs can be farmed out to corporations who can do it way cheaper. Low pay, no benefits etc. All the profit going to a few at the top. Reagan's great free market at work, government is the problem, not the solution, etc.

You can send an internet message (letter) essentially for free.

You do understand that the USPS is subsidize by the filthy ass Federal government, don't you?

Why should I have to pay so that some person living in rural Montana can get mail six days a week?
You can't send an internet message or package to places without internet or post office. The only reason any of the rural areas have internet was Obama's shovel ready infrastructure program. There will have to be a lot more of that to get the remaining 23% online.

No postal address also means no voting.

No Moon Bat. You are confused. We are getting rural internet all over the world now because of Starlink. That is private enterprise.

As far as Obama's stupid ass government handouts go why should I, living in a populated area, have to pay for the filthy government to subsidize internet anywhere or to subsidize mail service? How about the people that need the service pay their own bills?

You stupid greedy confused Moon Bats are always looking to have somebody else to pay your bills, aren't you? That is pathetic.

Are they 37 billion dollars short because they cannot compete? Even with massive increases in mail rates. This has been a question for a few decades. Mail is becoming a luxury as a nation gets poorer with the employees getting great benefits and retirement along with salary. All of this while more and more people get their official correspondence done by other means. And I do use the mail system a lot. As it is a comfort from another era.
How much does FedEx charge to mail a letter?

Is that what the USPS should charge?

If you think UPS has "low pay and no benefits", there is no point in even attempting to enlighten you, because you are dumb as a turd.

We do need a change to the constitution that would mandate that USPS sorters/deliverers READ the addresses on letters and packages and actually deliver them to those addresses, immediately discontinuing the random chucking out they do now.
When the Constitution was written the only way to have communication was through a government subsided mail system. Very useful and needed back in those days.

Nowadays we have communication many more ways. Telephones, internet, private messaging and package delivery.

In fact the mail is used primarily for advertisements. Just go check what you got in your mail box today if you don't beleive me. It is not zero but very few people get anything important through the mail nowadays.

The question remains how cost effective is it to have a government subsidized mail system.

The answer is "not much".

Knock, knock, ^that after QUOTING him saying:

and somehow neglecting to edit that bit out. Quick, who's dumb as a turd?

Every week FedEx has nation wide service disruptions.

National Service Disruption
Thursday, February 24, 2022
FedEx Express experienced substantial disruptions at the Memphis hub last night due to severe weather in the Memphis area. The storm has created potentially hazardous operating conditions and the safety of our team members remains our number one priority.
Potential delays are possible for package deliveries across the U.S. with a delivery commitment of February 24, 2022. Contingency plans are in place, and we are prepared to provide the best possible service as conditions allow. Operational impacts to other FedEx operating companies may vary due to local weather conditions.
