Climate change deniers killed Texas children

Global warming is greatly increasing the volume of water in the flash floods.
No modern flood comes close the Great Flood of 1862, when the Central Valley, all 300x65 miles of it, was turned into a lake.

Your claim is utter bull poo.

That comes across as more than a little extreme fundamentalist.

Are you prepared to burn “deniers” at the stake, or just have them mulched?

There really is a reason why I consider "Climate Zealots" to be the exact same as any other radical religious fundamentalist. They behave in the exact same way, insisting that their beliefs are the most important thing to be considered, ignoring anything that contradicts their beliefs, and calling for punishments ranging from expulsion and shaming to execution for those that dare to contradict them.

It really is like a fanatical fundamentalist religion. They can not be reasoned with, you can't even have a rational conversation with the majority of them. You simply have to accept what they claim, or else.

But you can ask them basic climate questions they can't answer without admitting CO2 is not the cause...

Climate scientists have been warning us for years that climate change from greenhouse gases will cause catastrophic flooding. Research suggests that atmospheric rivers are getting bigger, more frequent and more extreme, due to climate change; and the damage they cause is getting worse.
Atmospheric Rivers: Inside the giant 'sky rivers' swelling with climate change

Yet, the climate change deniers keep saying the crisis is a hoax and “move along, nothing to see here.”

Undoubtedly, the climate change deniers have led many to be complacent about flooding, particularly in red states like Texas. Thus, it should be no surprise that the pigheadedness of the deniers led to the deaths in the July 4th flooding in Central Texas.

On November 10, families of some of the little girls and counselors who died in the flood filed lawsuits against Camp Mystic and its operators, accusing the camp of wrongful death, gross negligence, and intentionally inflicting emotional distress.

Jeff Ray, legal counsel for Camp Mystic, stated, “We intend to demonstrate and prove that this sudden surge of floodwaters far exceeded any previous flood in the area by several magnitudes, that it was unexpected . . . “ But it was expected, according to climate scientists. Perhaps the Camp Mystic operators should have been prosecuted for negligent homicide but don’t expect justice in a MAGA state.

And if lies about climate change lead to deaths, should the liars be prosecuted?

It's a hoax.

I think Mushroom has already said all that I have to say ... except to add the Kerr County flooding isn't considered a 100-year event ... this happens more often ... indeed the last flash flood in the local area was in 1987 ... {Citation from the NWS} ...

Doppler radar showed 6 to 10 inches of rain on Camp Mystic in the hours before the flood ... isn't that warning enough? ... even two years living along the equator, I've never seen that much rain ...

God is busy right now punishing the Jews ... He isn't taking the time to punish anyone else ...

They were given warning HOURS in advance while they camped in a known flood plain that has flooded many times before.

Camp Mystic’s owner warned of floods for decades. Then the river killed him

There is a list of past floods and the FEMA map in the link showing the Camp is mainly INSIDE the known flood plain.

Your lies destroys your narrative.

Were there deaths prior to this event, yes or no?

This is the problem with flawed logic. And why people are trying to blame everything from volcanos and earthquakes to increases or decreases in the number of tropical cyclones on "Climate Change". As if the clime itself has not always been changing, and such variations had not happened before.

That is not science, that is mental illness seeing the future in tea leaves.

It is a failed religious cult trying to control the narrative. "Climate Alarmism".

Bullshit

It helps to expand the definition of an atmospheric river event ... that's a catchy name and it's fun to use it for just any kind of weather ... I guess in this thread, we're using the name for what used to be called a cyclone ...

The old definition was a narrow band of moisture that persists a day or three ...

90

Portland was dry, and so was Redding ... in between we filled 5-gallon buckets with warm rain over the weekend ... 15 inches in three days ... luckily no build up of snow so nothing flooded ...

Looks to me we're calling any rain storm an AR ... whether it looks like a river or a plume ... or just a simple cyclone like in Kerr County ...

It is a failed religious cult trying to control the narrative. "Climate Alarmism".

And that is the problem. And their distortions and lies.

Such as their absolute lie of calling anybody that refuses to believe in their nonsensical claims "climate deniers". In fact, I can't actually think of anybody who denies that the climate is changing. And those few that do (or claim it is getting colder) are just as big of frauds as they are.

In fact, I am one of those that is glad that it's warming. Not only that, but things need to start warming up a hell of a lot more and doing it fast. We are still barely above Ice Age temperatures, and we should be significantly warmer than it is today. And unless things start getting significantly warmer soon, the next ice age will be harsher than any ice age previously.

So just to be clear, your argument is that people expressing skepticism about climate science are responsible for a specific natural disaster? You’re drawing a straight causal line between public disagreement and an extreme weather event. I’m trying to understand how that reasoning holds up. Where’s the actual mechanism of responsibility supposed to be in that chain?
Well, of course, there is no reasoning behind this nonsense.
It's simply more leftist bullshit being shoveled out the bed of the Idiot Express.

My climate isn't changing ... it's been Mediterranean since Pangaea split apart ... our Summer dry season dominates all other meteorological parameters, including temperature ...

1ºC increase doesn't change weather, so it doesn't change average weather, which is the same as climate ... indeed, there usually is 1ºC temperature difference between the airport's weather station and the end of the runway where the pilot trying to land ... under the oak tree or out in the field ... one room to the next ... that's not a change in climate, or weather ... it's just natural variability ...

1ºC is 20 miles across the ground ... is Redding's climate any different from Red Bluff's? ...

Everyone paid their climate tax, and it still happened. So everyone is vindicated.

PS - there's some weird shit going through your head.

Hell, just look at LA any time there is a major rainstorm.

LA is actually prone to massive and deadly flash floods. The worst is still the 1938 flood, which killed 115 people. But there had been deadly floods in the area since the Spanish started keeping records.

The flooding was so bad that it destroyed all of the dykes and channels that had been put in place to try and prevent that flooding, and most failed. That is why the Army Corps of Engineers stepped in and engineered the system still in place to this day. There have been rainstorms far worse than the 1938 one in the decades past, but the "new" flood control system worked and the area has not suffered problems like that since.

Yet, every year people die because they go into the damned flood channels and get caught. I used to play in it when I was a kid, but I also knew that when it was raining to stay the hell away.

And yes, that is the same LA River that is famous in movies and TV ranging from Grease and Terminator 2 to Earthquake and The Six Million Dollar Man. 99% of the time there is about as much water running through it as the creek in my backyard now. But when it rains, it becomes deadly because all of LA is a giant flash flood basin. Made even worse with all the cement and asphalt there now.

The same with the Sepulveda Dam. Once again, famous for movies from Buckaroo Banzai and True Lies to Escape from New York and Gattaca. Most of the time home to a golf course and parks, But during major storms it fills up and becomes a giant lake with everything underwater.

And even though during large rainstorms they close off access to that area, people still drive around the barriers and get stuck so need to get rescued.

And I want to shake my head now, as there is really a movement to remove that flood control system and turn it into parks and bikeways. Destroying the system that has protected LA for almost a century to "beautify" things. Even protesting and fighting the removal of plants and even trees that have grown in it during dry years, not realizing that when the floods return those trees will cause multiple problems ranging from slowing waterflow to damaging and destroying bridges downstream and possibly even causing "log jams" causing more flooding.

The fact is, many people are amazingly stupid when it comes to things like flood control and flash floods. And quite literally as anti-science as anti-vaxxers. "Oh, it has never impacted me, so the threat is not real".

I'm not in the least bit worried about the climate. Any long term changes will occur long time after all of us are likely dead, so I don't see any reason to care about it to any significant extent.

Well, whaddya know?
We agree on something.

I worry about it for our descendants in 5-10,000 years. Because the next Ice Age is going to start happening at around then, and unless things warm up a hell of a lot it might be an almost Extinction level event for humans.

We evolved during an interglacial, and our species thrives during interglacials. Where we suffer is during ice ages. And we know that in the last Interglacial things were significantly hotter and the oceans were significantly higher. As in, most of Florida being underwater kinds of higher.

sea-change-over-time.jpg

The first image is what Florida should look like now, the middle is what it looked like during the last ice age. And on the far right, what it looks like now.

Now in the last ice age, glaciers covered all of Canada, and extended into parts of the US (generally 49 North Latitude). And that was starting from the sea levels and warmth of the first image above. Imagine how much worse the next Ice Age will be if it's starting from the baseline of the climate today. I can see the ice sheets in that instance in the next ice age reaching possibly 43 North Latitude. If that happens, say goodbye to Washington, Montana, both Dakotas, Wisconsin, most of the Great Lakes and New England.

Because I have heard serious geologists speculating that if the next ice age starts from the current baseline, that is more or less what to expect the Glacial Maximum to be.

And if that happens, hello to a world without a Canada at all, and the US is a desolate landscape closer to Siberia than what we know today. With tundra and permafrost extending almost to the US-Mexico border and the Gulf of Mexico.

And the same repeated in Europe, and a significant amount of Argentina and Chile also under ice sheets.

Global warming is greatly increasing the volume of water in the flash floods.
And you posting is raising people's blood pressure as they have to face the reality of a failed educational system that creates morons who somehow thing they can make that connection.

Tell us, O smart one, just where did the global warming people tell us how much the water in the floods would increase. Actual numbers please.
