Arbenz was a socialist and made the mistake of confiscating land that corporate fruit companies had the right to. He also made pleas to Russia for assistance. While Russia did not supply him with weapons and advisors, they sided up with Guatemala in the UN. We were at that time involved in a Cold War struggle with Russia and China, and the last thing we wanted was to see communism spread throughout South and Central America.

That's what the CIA was involved in doing back then. I'm not so sure anymore though. Their ranks have more than likely been infiltrated with commies, as is the rest of our government. That was Russia's plan, starting in the early 50's, and they succeeded pretty well.

Like all groups, they have their share of bad people, too.

But you notice that their youth do not go around robbing (and then gratuitously murdering the victim) or sucker punching innocent people (such as Asian by-passers) or engaging in brazen looting.

Of course it happened. This is part of the shamed history of the Dulles Brothers, following a similar coup they set up to remove the democratically-elected Prime Minister of Iran, which in turn set up the Shah and a world of turmoil, and before they engaged in similar fucking around with Lumumba in Congo, Sukarno in Indonesia, and of course got us into Vietnam when Foster Dulles couldn't bear the thought of an imperialism opportunity going unanswered.

I heard the other day that the CIA and NSA recruit heavily from the Mormon community because they are usually squeaky clean on the enhanced background check. Not sure what that does to your theory.

I was referring to the ones in higher positions. For instance, CIA Director John Brennan, who once voted for a Communist Party candidate. The CIA has cut back on recruiting Mormons, as there are too many thing they object to doing. Like drinking for instance, when the assignment would require it.
