There are multiple sources and stories on the CIA having a source inside the Kremlin who provided info on Putin personally ordering his spies to hack our election. However, it looks like CNN sort of jumped the shark in saying the guy was exfiltrated simply because of Trump's loose lips and unrecorded, untethered meetings with Russians including Putin. It was more complex than that.

The real import of the story is really about why the CIA should have had concerns about how far Putin hand penetrated election security.
