The CIA has for the first time acknowledged that the 1953 coup it backed in Iran that overthrew its prime minister and cemented the rule of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was undemocratic.

Most of the worlds ills can be traced back to the UK or the US. One has to wonder if the history of the C20th would have been different if the US had not pissed off Iranian people.

I wonder if the US should apologise to the Iranian people for the mess they created ?

Allowing the ethnic cleansing of Gaza is on the same level. Britain is cheering it on as well. We will pay heavily for it. People do not forget.

Blessed are the peacemakers said a wise man. Where are they now ?

Gaza has already experienced ethnic cleansing, subhuman.

It happened when the last Jewish person left Gaza.

That's awful! Mosaddeq got literally hundreds of votes.
Carter was a weak idiot.
His weakness led directly to Khomeini and the barbarism we see now.

The best apology would be helping the Iranian people hang all the mullahs.

FAKE NEWS ALERT!!!!!

In realityland, no such coup ever happened. The original source for that disinformation is the KGB First Chief Directorate which was in charge of disseminating crude defamatory anti-USA disinformation. You will still hear fake news outlets repeat that disinformation many decades laters.

There was no coup that overthrew Prime Minister Mossadegh and the PM was never democratically elected in the first place. He was appointed by the Shah. What really happened is that the Shah fired PM Mossadegh again. Yes, again. The Shah appointed him twice and fired him twice under the powers granted to the Shah by the Iranian constitution. And for good reason. He was a fucking disaster.

After the second time the Shah fired him he attempted a coup. The military quickly quashed the coup, surrounded Mossadegh's mansion and held it under siege until he surrendered. He was convicted of treason, did a few years in jail and spent the rest of his life under house arrest in his luxurious mansion.

The was no CIA led coup in Iran.

The CIA have admitted it. I dont really know where you are going with this nonsense.

Should have whacked Khomeini, not allowed him to take power.
How many votes did Mosaddeq get?
The people didn't vote for Prime Minister in Iran. It wasn't a Democratically elected position, it was an appointed position. The Majlis (parliament) would nominate prospective Prime Ministers by giving them a vote of confidence and then the Shah could appoint one of the nominees or reject them. And the Shah could also fire the PM that he appointed. He appointed and fired Mosaddegh twice.

There was no coup against Mossadegh. He was fired.

Those who claim that the US led a coup against Mosaddegh and installed the Shah into power are simply parroting the KGB's fake news. Hell, some school textbooks in the USA even have that KGB disinformation in them.

How democratic is Iran's current government?

Not at all. But it exists in a world that the CIA created.
The govt of Iran was none of their fucking business.
This isnt really historical. The US invaded Iraq and Afghanistan and made the world more dangerous. It never ends.

And the Commies subverted/continue to subvert other countries from within and you probably don't have an issue with that.

The CIA hasn't gotten much right in the last fifty years. JFK used the Agency to raise and train an illegal invasion army in Cuba. How did that work out?
