Church shooting in Vestavia Hills AL.....At least 6 shot. Status of victims is unknown. Suspect in custody.

The link I posted is only a few hours ago.
Well, the police there need to stop giving press conferences claiming this guy occasionally attended services...which to me is moot if he attended every day or if he never attended at all.....

I do not want to ban anything, I leave that up to folks like you.

The purpose of a gun is to fire a bullet.

I have owned guns since the 70s and not a single one of them has ever killed anything at all in decades since I am not really into hunting these days and none have ever killed a person.

But they have done some damage to paper targets and tin cans!
That RC Cola can had it comin.

Oh Dear. Another maniac unhinged godless leftwing kook with a gun on the loose again triggered by Biden's Marxist policies..

The elderly pastor spoke to the man asking him to come get some food so he shot the clergyman.

A man calling himself “Mr. Smith” was sitting alone and a longtime church member approached him and invited him to sit at a table, said the Rev. Doug Carpenter, who founded the church in 1973 and retired in 2005.

“Mr. Smith” refused to join them and later pulled out a handgun and shot three people, Carpenter said.

Jim Musgrove, a church member, hit the shooter with a chair and wrestled the gun away from him, Carpenter said.

“It was extremely critical in saving lives,’' said Vestavia Hills police Capt. Shane Ware. “In my opinion, he’s a hero.”

No one at the dinner knew “Mr. Smith,” who claimed he was a former member. “We’re trying to figure out who he is,” Carpenter said

The shooter is 71 years old.

An 84-year-old male is dead. A 75-year-old female is dead. An 84-hear-old female was injured.

Sounds like bingo night might have gotten a little too heated.
It sounds like the killer was Viagra.

I Carry at my Temple for Friday night Shabbat Services and Saturday for Torah study
As you should, and everywhere else you go. I am sure your fellow Temple goers appreciate that you do that.

Well.......if the crime was committed by Hispanics, muslims or any other person from a minority group - the likelihood there will be major pronouncements from right-wingers about what needs to be done to those groups raises dramatically...and the chance that some actual policy gets put in place has a chance of happening too..

Unfortunately, this shooting involved good people.......

I'm unaware of a black shooter going into a white church to shoot people but it is a critical part of the story when a white shooter goes into a black church compared to perhaps a Muslim into a Jewish Temple or a Muslim into a white church or a Janes-Revenge member going into a Christian church or a 71-year-old white man in a church filled with old white people. The direction of the investigation and assumed motive can be immediately determined from this information. All of these scenarios represent hate; no one goes into a church to shoot people out of love.

And it is certainly possible that a white kid could go into a black church and shoot a bunch of black ladies out of revenge if, for example, the black ladies were all gang members who killed his mother - but we don't start with that assumption, do we? We start with the assumption of a racially motivated crime and, up to now, have always been right on with the first assumption that we make - that it is racially motivated.

In addition, when the attack appears to be race or religious hatred based, there is a higher likelihood that there are additional shooters involved; this is critical for law enforcement. Though they should always start on that assumption - that there are multiple shooters, the facts on the ground will help prioritize valuable police resources between helping victims, securing the scene, or, when the evidence suggests it, finding additional shooters.

So, yes, the race and age of the shooter, the victims, and the congregation as a whole, are extremely critical bits of information to know and release as soon as they can be sure of the facts.

Saw the guy's pic; he looks like how I've always pictured Moonglow would look like.

When Liberals ( old hippies ) attack
Nope....He held a valid FFL and sat up at gun shows....He had some kind of a mag manufacturing business.

Public records show Smith is an ATF licensed firearms dealer, with a business called Original Magazines 2 at 4128 Sicard Hollow Road, which is also his home address.
