Looking at the scriptures it appears to me that Christ would be described as a socialist today and a flaming liberal. Look at Mathew 25:34:

"Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me."

It is hard to imagine that Christ would not be pleased with providing healthcare and jobs to million in need or laws that would punish the greedy.

Christians and Capitalist have always made rather strange bedfellows. How the GOP has managed to unite these two groups with such contradictory philosophies is beyond me.

Notice the use of I and You. No mention is made of the state or any other person because they are not involved.

The New Testament not only makes clear that the needy were to be helped through voluntary acts of charity, but also that those who have an aversion to hard work should not be allowed to become a burden to others.

Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. you dont seem to be able to distinguish between using money to get something as compared to NOT using money....you can take a side on an issue,but if no money is involved to "sway" a rep.....then you are doing it the right way....buying it is not the right way......

I don't think I should have to be 'forced' in to paying for unnecessary wars that kill people or for putting people in the costly jails for smoking pot or for other kids schools with my property taxes or for bailing out a bunch of con artist crooks at the banks and insurance companies....

I don't mind paying for Health care, or social security retirement or medicare, or medicaid....

Everyone wins some and loses some.

No one is really FORCED in to any of it...we ELECT representatives, who we give the power, to make those choices for us on a democratic basis.
