So? Trump needed a tarrif war for that?

China's Ministry of Finance said it would impose a 15% tariff on coal and liquefied natural gas and a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, large cars, and pickup trucks.

The announcement comes days after Trump placed a 10% tariff on all Chinese imported products, building on his campaign promise of robust tariff policy.

And the drug issue is completely separate from the immigration issue.

Most drugs come through ports of entry carried by American citizens

I doubt China's new tariffs will have much of an effect. However, if they're shutting off shipments to America of vital material and goods needed by American industry, any resulting U.S. layoffs would be politically damaging to the Trump administration.

There are few substitutes for American made products. Less the auto industry, what a travesty, but on a bright side the best (Toyota) are built in the USA.

Chinese goods are junk, fill dumps, and don't just steal jobs in the USA. They and govt. are doing their best to eliminate positions of real blue collar talent and skills. My experience restoring a classic was a real education in that, but only OEM and few improvements better. Not a single Chinese item, no fkn way.
