America are complaining about China's dumping practice? You do know that China cannot survive by selling and dumping goods to on Russia, India, and scores of developing and undeveloped countries right? China needs US and European currencies to fund its military. You know that China and Russia have been calling for a global currency to replace the US dollar for the past three decades but unfortunately no takers. I am sure you can guess why. A global currency would be hard to establish. Just look at all the problems Europe is having with the Euro.

No, the world won't look to replace the US dollar. Even if the world tries with what? Euro? Yuan? Rubles? Rupee? China and Russia have been rallying the globe for decades without success simply because the lack of trust. Here's what you failed to see. Philippines, Europe, S. Korea, Taiwan, and Japan rely on US for defense. None of them would dare to say let's get rid of the US currency and none of them trust China one bit. China will be viewed as the currency manipulator. That's not going to change even when Trump leaves office. Clinton, Obama, and Biden know this.

In my day job, I do purchasing. I buy components to assemble larger systems.

Trump's tariffs have increased the cost of everything we buy. That's not hurting China; they are still getting paid for the widgets that a distributor bought from them before selling to us.

So we are either cutting into profits OR we are charging our customers more.

In most cases, an American alternative isn't even available. If it were, it would still take months to get it on line and get customer acceptance.
