Chief Justice Roberts’ Top Aide To Resign

6 Sep 2022 ~~ By

The longtime counselor to Chief Justice John Roberts announced on Sept. 6 that he’s leaving his post at the end of the month.
Jeffrey P. Minear will retire on Sept. 30 after serving as Roberts’s chief of staff since 2006. Minear previously worked for the U.S. solicitor general’s office, where he argued 56 cases before the Supreme Court. As chief justice, Roberts is head of the federal judiciary as well as presiding officer of the Supreme Court.

Minear has “represented the Chief Justice in relations with judicial organizations, foreign courts, and visiting dignitaries,” according to the statement.
“He has also supported the Chief Justice in his non-judicial responsibilities, including as Chancellor of the Smithsonian Institution,” it reads.
Minear said he has been “profoundly honored to support Chief Justice Roberts and his colleagues, on the Supreme Court and throughout our federal judiciary, in their vitally important work.”

The court overturned the 1973 abortion precedent Roe v. Wade, returning the regulation of abortion to the states.
The court expanded Second Amendment rights, holding for the first time that individuals have the right to carry firearms in public for self-defense, and reined in some of the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulatory powers.

Commentary:
Meanwhile, who is Amit Jain?
Was there more than one leaker in the halls of the U.S. Supreme Court?
Surely Minear has worked for 16 years and was highly thought of.
Someone at this level of his career is very unlikely to leak a SCOTUS decision which would lead to a complete self destruction of any legal career in the future and possible disbarment. Also, the damage to their reputation makes it unlikely that anyone sane would trust them to uphold their confidentiality or respect attorney-client privilege. No one wants to see what they discussed in the privacy of their attorney’s office on the six o’clock news.
It was most likely a young, idealistic leftist and a staunch supporter of abortion with no scruples and an inability to see the ultimate outcomes of their actions who hoped to push the court to change the verdict and keep their beloved child sacrifice alive.
Then again, The more glowing the praise, the less honorable the person. Think Robert Mueller.
Logically, the leak had to come from a far left source that is young and completely unhinged about the possibility of women losing the ability to execute unborn children.

Interesting. I never thought of USSC justices having that kind of staff. I pictured them having top recent law grads clerk for them for year or two as a resume brightener and some pretty high paid paralegals and a secretary/receptionist.
