A scathing report from the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) revealed that the school system spent a staggering $14.5 million in "excessive" travel expenses in FY 2023 and FY 2024 combined.

The report comes as data shows that just 30.5% of students in grades 3–8 were proficient in reading, and just 18.3% of students were proficient in math in the spring of 2024.

"It is a sad commentary on just how far our city has fallen and how bad the leadership is," Chicago pastor Corey Brooks told Fox News Digital. "These individuals believe that spending money on themselves benefits our educational system more so than spending it on the children who so rightfully deserve it."

I could see $14.5M getting eaten up quickly on business class international travel and swanky conventions.

Only the best for our Chicago educator admins.
They spend 30K on each student....About the same as what tuition runs at the elite private schools in the Chicago area.

This is not unique to Chicago

The lib teachers and non teachers are doing the same thing all over America

The taxes people pay in Chicago are insane, I wonder sometimes if everyone is so conditioned now to excesses from these tax dollars that budgets are not part of the math anymore. When spending goes from a somewhat normal amount in 2021 ($300,000) to $7.7 million in 4 years, you have something going on that requires examination and explanation.

In my dreams, I see a U.S. Department of Education that (among a few other things) identifies successful* schools and school districts in "disadvantaged" cities, towns, and neighborhoods, and tries to establish what it is about THOSE schools that other schools do not have.

Then they publish the results for all the world to see.

Seldom is success* the result of excessive spending, or even high teacher compensation.

It's working perfectly!

We're an occupied nation, run by people who hate us: healthcare, education, and retirement are all absolutely sabotaged

...

You can see the results of school districts all over the country any time you want. Why do you always come here and proclaim, "I've got a great idea!" and then describe things that have been happening for decades? Have you ever considered looking into things before bestowing upon us your brilliant new ideas?

Where are the STUDIES that examine why, for example, there are a couple schools in Harlem (NYC) that have academic outcomes that are dramatically better than the schools around them, with the same basic population? Those results are available, but I have seen nothing that isolates the reasons why those differences exist, so that they can be replicated elsewhere.

There are mountains of data analyzing all such things. Wipe the shit out of your eyes and look before shooting your mouth off here.

"I've got an idea! Why not invent a horseless carriage! Think of how convenient it would be!"

Let's face it! You are doing nothing more than liberals who scream at the sky! Unnatural is dead right on target with his comments. You scream because you are ignorant.

It obvious you ha e never heard of "Best Practices" revealed by those studies being implemented in schools.

Idtudied those programs for years getting my Masters in Education but what works in NYC doesn't often translate to suburban Florida or rural Kentucky schools.
