Cheers all around as Obama sets fuel efficiency goals for big trucks

Fuel efficiency should be controlled by the market place. Higher fuel prices=higher food prices. Sad that more people are going to be forced to choose between pills and food because of this. Makes me sick!
You can't make a progressive omelet without breaking a few poor and middle class eggs.

Collateral damage, if you will. They'll just blame it on the GOP.

If that vehicle really existed, where is it today? It's not like anyone's preventing them from producing the car. I have a hard time believing that a true 50 mpg car wouldn't still be on the road and in showrooms today.

KOrnhole I am so tired of your freaking stupidity now.... Seriously do yourself a favor and STFU about things you know nothing about....

You haven't answered the question. Why isn't it still on the road, if it was so good? You seem to be really losing it!!! You'd rather be a potty mouth than actually answering questions. And you call me "junior"?!?! I guess my shining intellect is just getting to you.:lol::lol:

I don't run Honda moron, why don't you ask them? You said "If that car existed" remember? It did, so now you want to know why it isn't still on the road? I happen to have a 92 civic I just bought for my son. About 108,000 original miles gave 600 for it. In exceptional condition. Runs like a top.. Gets around 40 MPG, needs a new muffler and it will probably get 45 mpg, not bad for a car that age. So that car stil does exist retard..

But that wasn't your claim before now was it idiot... The car DID exist and YOU once again showed your level of knowledge was lacking.

Now go get a life junior..

No way can you make cars as light as they were back in 84 because of all the nanny state safety equipment thrown at them now. like it or not surrounding yourself with airbags ABS and all the stuff modern drives seem to need adds lots of weight.

Thats why i keep my 84 3, no airbags, no third brake light , no ABS, just good old fashioned seat belt, works for me, in the old days we learned how to modulate our own brakes.

And now thats its old enough i dont have to get it sniff tested for the CT EPA, thats the best part!

Not only are cars more efficent, they are also much safer than they were when I started driving.

Much of this can be explained by government standards.

Why are government standards a good idea?

Because the market forces aren't necessarily the best way to improve things like milage and safety, that's why.

But if the government mandates \ these issues, then the playing field is level, and the industry will respond.

I have very little doubt that at least one person who will read this post is probably alive today, because of some government mandate about adding some safety feature to cars.

Seatbelts, for example, are one of those FREEDOM REPRESSING LAWS that I happen to think are a good thing.

YES demanding that seatbelts are in cars is an example of Nanny STATISM, I quite agree with those of you who think that.

But that is also an example of a NANNY STATISM of which I approve.

i ride motorcycles 99% of the time so not much your nanny State can do to make that safe,

thank God... Which mean i get to operate a very light vehicle that gets 75 mpg at WOT.

You just stay safe in that cage that handles like a pig and gets half the mileage it could get if it was as light as a car made in 1984.

Got news for you, when you drive that car that gets does 55+ mpg, it will have to be light

And that means a death trap for those inside. You even wont want one you will be so afraid to be init.

here ya go, your future, and you will need 3 of them to transport the family around:

Attitudes will change when gas is $10.

true dat.

Cool. Is it Japanese?

Thanks, I think I will.

Something about living someplace where it's freezing about half the year makes me think that saying safe in a cage that handles like a truck and gets about 29 MPG is still a good idea for me. But I am sincerely happy that you are happy with your choice of transport, too.

Not exactly news, but yes, I concur.

And that means a death trap for those inside. You even wont want one you will be so afraid to be init.

As opposed to the first cars I drove, NOTHING made today is a deathtrap, kid.

Hey, as long as every other vehicle on the road is also tiny, I think that won't bother me too much.

LOL, glad you are so eager to let the government run your life for you... Sorry but I am not so willing to give up the one thing we all truly have; freewill...

Seriously, lad, grow up.

Seriously lad? LOL I am 43 soon...

:cuckoo:

Tell you what, you keep on taking decision making out of the process for yourself and get dumber and lazier. Don't worry someone will make a mandate to turn your lazy butt over I'm sure... LOL

Its people like that got us the warnings on a cup of coffee and the "do not eat" warning on the iPOD...Yeah you do something stupid or make a mistake and someones gotta pay for it, and whats more we need a government mandate requiring tax dollars to pay for it all. Hey why worry, its just someone else's money.:clap2:

I never said it didn't exist. You threw it up there as some sort of example, so I'd expect you to know why it isn't being produced anymore. Has it been superseded by a new model that gets the same mileage? Really, I don't see why you mentioned it in the first place because, if it's as good as you say, wouldn't it be out there competing with the hybrids? Fill in the blanks, because the whole issue seems like a total non sequitur.

I have two japanese bikes(Kawasaki's: GTR 1000 and a KLR 650) and one Chi.com home built motorized bike. :eusa_angel:

From today, did 100 miles, used a gallon and a half of fuel, mud kills mileage

What a idiot... You can't even remember what your argument was.. You are so obsessed with saving your ass, you can't keep your own tale straight... Seriously junior go pop a zit or something...

Of course Obamasocialistfuck set fuel efficiency standards. His goal is to rape the capitalists he cannot butt-fuck and control as puppets.

If I was a Marxist like he is I would do exactly what hes doing - destroy the capitalist model from the bottom up - not from the top down.

Do people believe attacking the capitalist model from the top down (much like the socialist Revolutionaries in history have done) is the right course of action?

Hell no - you destroy the model through progressive measures such as regulations like the aforementioned in the OP's post.

All this environmental bullshit is code for authoritarian.
