I agree, what is wrong with the system we already have? I don't mind absentee voting because they are all counted by election day, but to allow mass mail-in voting with a post-mark up to 10 days after election day is unconstitutional. The Constitution spells out what day is election day. I hope all the courts agree with the Constitution.

I agree, what is wrong with the system we already have? I don't mind absentee voting because they are all counted by election day, but to allow mass mail-in voting with a post-mark up to 10 days after election day is unconstitutional. The Constitution spells out what day is election day. I hope all the courts agree with the Constitution.

I don't think we are talking about post-marked past the election day. What we are talking about is the count AFTER the poll closes. And in the case of mail-in and absentees, it may take up to 5 days to do that count. I don't believe there are too many people (sane ones, that is) that want to go with ballots mailed in AFTER the election to be counted. That's right up there with a person beating on the Poll Doors the day after the election demanding to vote. But enough time has to be given so that all mail-in and absentee votes that are valid can be counted. Plus, a method to allow a voter to expediently get his vote counted if there is something minor wrong with his mail-in or absentee ballot. But a reasonable cut-off date must be leveled.

Looking back, I think there was a reason the delayed confirmation dates were setup. When the Country was formed, it might take a week just to get the results back to Congress to verify who the winner is. They only thing that has changed is the speed that things are reported at. I don't think a 2 week delay would be completely out of order but anything beyond that would be out of the question.

So, if it was good enough for old Ben, it's good enough for me.
