To follow up on my general premise.

As I told my mom last year, before the vaccine was developed, "the best defense you have right now is to quit smoking".

I would say to those overweight and/or smoking to understand how weight impacts the results. I've seen a 95 year old lady flip the bird to the Wuhan Virus. She was as skinny as a rake. No surprises there. I have focused on this issue myself, losing 8 pounds over the last 2 weeks with fasting and cutting out sugar.

Not perfect, I know. I'm trying to improve my chances though. The way my country has treated me, I'm afraid that if I were hospitalized I wouldn't exactly receive the most optimum treatment.

An overwhelming majority of people who have been hospitalized, needed a ventilator or died from Covid-19 have been overweight or obese, the CDC said in a new study Monday.
Among 148,494 adults who received a Covid-19 diagnosis during an emergency department or inpatient visit at 238 U.S. hospitals from March to December, 71,491 were hospitalized. Of those who were admitted, 27.8% were overweight and 50.2% were obese, according to the CDC report. Overweight is defined as having a body mass index of 25 or more, while obesity is defined as having a BMI of 30 or more.

The agency found the risk for hospitalizations, ICU admissions and deaths was lowest among individuals with BMIs under 25. The risk of severe illness “sharply increased,” however, as BMIs rose, particularly among people 65 and older, the agency said.
Just over 42% of the U.S. population was considered obese in 2018, according to the agency’s most recent statistics.

I find it strange that not a single talking head or anyone from the medical community has raised this issue,,

but then again a doctors job isnt to keep you healthy but fix your symptoms when youre sick,,

I listen to a doctor named Jason Fung among others, he has many videos on the net. He focuses on fasting and achieving autophagy. He seems fairly honest and genuine in his passion for self healing of the body etc.

Anyways, I was sold on him when he made a statement I've made for years "you have to look after your own health and not trust a doctor to do it for you".

Indeed. You see a doctor for 15-20 minutes every once in awhile, he refers to his notes and then you are on your way. Ultimately, we can only do our best. I advise peopel to get the vaccination, especially if you are higher risk.

The problem with that premise is that the overwhelming majority of people out there are overweight! So it can hardly be surprising that the majority of people randomly infected by Covid should also be so.

Seems what you would expect when 73 percent of Americans are overweight or obese

  • Percent of adults aged 20 and over with overweight, including obesity: 73.6% (2017-2018)
