Trump didn't cancel Colbert. The government didn't cancel Colbert. The fact that CBS cancelled his show as of 2026, I wonder if that's just the end of Stephen's contract or is that when Skydance is supposed to take over. It's funny that Colbert went and attacked CBS on the air, and the next day, there was an article in Newsweek (I believe) saying that him and Jon Stewart's status were uncertain. BTW, be prepared to hear of people at CBS News heading out the door at about the same time. The Skydance people remember who were trying to prevent the merger from happening, and the people at CBS News know they won't be getting a warm welcome when the merger happens.
That is stupid, since 2018 viewership is down 50%, ad revenue is also down 50% and production costs and ROI has been bad and getting worse. The network, cable and streaming have changed how people watch TV. Production costs are up playing a big role. NBC, ABC, CNN, ESPN, MSNBC and many other networks are in trouble and have been cutting and removing high paid talent. NBC is rumored to be retooling late-night under budget pressure. James Corden’s show ended in 2023 despite strong performance. TBS and Comedy Central exited late-night entirely.

Of course Trump had something to do with it. He has it in for CBS for doing the same thing any TV outlet would do, editing. FOX is constantly editing Trump to make him look better. CBS only gave in because the billionaires in charge care about their payday over our freedoms.
