cannabis use in old people associated with larger brains, better cognitive function

Even the New York Times editorial board has come out saying legalization was rushed without enough study.

Potheads always get jumpy when their precious drug is criticized.

Pot makes most people lethargic but there's about 15% of us who get stimulated by it. I'm kinda the classic raid the fridge and fall asleep type. :p
They legalized it here so I've been growing my own and doing some research on this subject. Apparently different strains can have different effects depending on their THC and CBD content, and terpene and cannabinoid profiles along with differences between individuals. Method of use matters too.

Most of the data on the effects of terpenes come from aroma therapy, not clinical trials of weed.

So I'm going to be doing a lot of experimenting.

Yes, numerous studies confirm that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) increases the risk of psychosis, including psychosis "not otherwise specified" (NOS), particularly with frequent use, high-potency products, and use during adolescence.

Key Findings on the Link Between THC and Psychosis
  • Dose-Response Relationship: The risk of developing a psychotic disorder increases with the frequency and potency of cannabis used. Daily use of high-potency cannabis carries a significantly higher risk compared to non-use or occasional use.
  • Vulnerability Factors: The association is stronger in individuals with pre-existing vulnerabilities, such as:
    • A personal or family history of a psychotic disorder.
    • Specific genetic predispositions (e.g., in the COMT and AKT1 genes).
    • Younger age, as the adolescent brain is still developing.
    • A history of childhood trauma or abuse.
