You are not paying value added taxes for anyone, other than taxes levied by the US, assuming, of course you really are in the USA, which I seriously doubt.

You don't pay VAT's to other countries.

VAT's are added in the jurisdiction where the goods are sold. If I buy something in Canada, I pay Goods and Service Tax on that purchase, regardless of where it was made. Americans don't pay Canadian VAT's, unless they are shopping in Canada.

Only food is exempt from VAT's. And that's grocery store food. Restaurant meals, snack foods, and preprepared foods are taxed.

From Trump and the Republican Party’s point of view, it’s ALL about the billionaires. Trump didn’t do jack shit for the workers the first time he was in office. He didn’t have Americans union leaders sitting behind him in that church on inauguration day.

Off shoring continued unabated during his first term. The manufacturing sector lost 200,000 jobs in Trump’s last trade war, and was set back to 2009 in terms of overall production jobs.

Trump promised to wipe out the trade deficit but his first trade war actually increased the US trade deficit by 40% and that part of the economy has NOT recovered from Trump’s first economic collapse.

The US manufacturing sector was in a recession in late 2019, BEFORE the pandemic hit. The economic collapse that occurred during the pandemic gave cover to the disaster that was Trump’s first trade war.

This time, the effects are impossible to miss.
