The Feds spend 7 trillion a year. This sounds like a lot, but in a country with a GDP of 28 trillion, it's only 25%. Most industrialized countries spend more.

When you break that 7 Trillion down, you see how little room you have to cut.

1.5 Trillion is Social Security (which Trump has promised not to cut.)
1 Trillion is interest on the debt.
1 Trillion is Medicare (which Trump has promised not to cut.)
700 billion is Medicaid (which Trump has promised not to cut.)
800 billion is Defense Spending (which Trump has said he wants to increase.)
450 billion are veterans' benefits. (which Trump has promised not to cut.)

So already, you are talking 5.5 trillion out of that 7 trillion that you really can't do much about.

Most of the rest is building roads, paying for education, etc. You COULD shift those expenses to the states, but this would probably hurt Red States more because the Blue states are subsidizing them.

Of course, Trump isn't capable of this kind of analysis. He's just too fucking stupid. All he sees are federal employees who don't like him and he's going to fire them to get even with them for reasons. This is the kind of irrational man-child your side has put in charge.

Obviously you never looked into the tax cuts Trump enacted during his first term that Congress is looking to extend. The media threw out a false narrative that tax cuts were for the “rich” and many bought it. They could have just as easily said it was a tax cut for the lower middle class. That too would have been true.

The brackets were changed in 2017. Yes, rich people saved more money dollar for dollar, but they pay more, so that is kind of how percentages work. Funny enough, there is a bracket of upper income earners making between 200k-416k that actually saw a 2% increase. There goes that narrative.

This go around, Trump wants to bring those cuts as well as increasing the fully refundable child tax credit(welfare for those that pay less federal income tax than their benefit), remove taxes on SS and tips. In case you didn’t know, those getting SS and tips aren’t typically high earners.
