“Renaming these forts” has nothing to do with this, but everything to do with treating every group and race equally
Do you really believe racist whites named forts for great Confederate generals because they hate black people?

No, he is just reflexively siding against white people being proud of their heritage and history.

"President Donald Trump is threatening to veto legislation to fund the military as one of his final acts in office unless a widely supported, bipartisan provision to rename military bases honoring Confederate military leaders is removed -- Since the Nov. 3 election, Trump has privately told Republican lawmakers that he won't back down from his position during the campaign that he would veto the annual National Defense Authorization Act if it includes an amendment to rename the bases. The effort to change the names of military bases honoring Confederate military leaders has been a target for Trump for months. While some Republicans are now shifting their positions to align with Trump, Democrats are refusing to budge on the agreed-to amendment, threatening passage of the legislation."

I believe Trump should totally take a stand for our rich and vast Confederate legacy, even if it means defunding the military -- our soldiers have fought to protect the Confederacy and the Democrats are trying to attack and disgrace our honorable Confderate generals -- I mean, the Democrats are trying to hide their racist past, yea, that's it!!
To properly answer Trump’s threat to “Save the Confederacy” by vetoing the defense budget is easy: Let him veto it!

Let the globalist armed forces of the U.S.A. hold a bake sale!

Anyone not willing to buy baked goods of U.S. soldiers’ wives?

Let them blame the “Save the Confederacy” Lame Duck Blowhard!

the white-hating race hustlers like Billyboom and Biff_Poindexter are using misunderstood history for their own race baiting today
Real accurate history comes from old John Wayne movies.
The term was Galvanized Yankee.

After the war it was not exactly common, but certainly not unheard of. Every Calvary Unit certainly had at least one. Probably a handful of former Confederates. Entire Infantry Units were made up of former Confederate Soldiers.

The people in question were Soldiers to the bone. And flourished under the discipline and hardships common in the military.

In other words. The people of the era did not hate the Confederates nearly as much as you do today. And this despite the fact that everyone knew someone who had died in that horrific war. For the people of the West. They did not care that the soldiers fighting the Indians were former Confederates.

It was you Northern Whites who started Segregation and kept it going after the war. The truth was shown in that movie. But you don’t care about accurate truth. You care more about what you think history should be. Not what it is.

it is said that those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it. I say if you are determined to rewrite history, you are certain to wish it had only repeated.

BS, most white folks are not proud about racism, slavery, etc.

Do Trump supporters really defend Trump’s threat to VETO the defense budget over this renaming decision? The decision itself is a perfectly reasonable one long discussed and supported by the bipartisan and Republican-led Senate Armed Services Committee and the Pentagon leadership. Do these groups also all hate white Southerners? Do they too want to “vilify whites” and make them “second class citizens”? This is simply white victimology syndrome of the most extreme and obvious kind. It is also a typical, empty, utterly irresponsible and demagogic Trump move.

Many Confederates became double traitors. Waring on Native Americans was easy, even though Native Americans in the west allied with Confederates. Johnny Reb turned on their own nation or allies. Did you even read your own link?

I have read much more than that link. Odd. You know the truth and insist on hating those people even more. That tells me that the entire premise for your hatred is merely an excuse. Like those racists who claim that crime rates justify their feelings towards Blacks, your reasons are nothing more than excuses to give into your hatred.

Correct. Which is why they focus on other aspects of history.

Just like every other group does, focusing on the positives, not the negatives.

The only difference is that when whites do it, you lib assholes attack.

This is my point. It is clear and simple and you are too cowardly to address it.

And you are an asshole on top of your cowardice.

Being a Confederate doesnt automatically mean youre evil. It simply means you were born in one place as opposed to another. Confederate soldiers should be honored as much as northern soldiers.

Yes.......the locals in North Carolina named the base after the only general from NC during the Civil War -- because of their lost-cause neo-confederate porn fetish...

And on top of that -- he sucked as a general......and hiding behind US soldiers to defend a traitor is only par for the course for Trump sycophants

American soldier proud of the Confederate battle flag but who fought for the next flag (Stars and Stribes - Old Glory) that embittered liberals will burn and spit on next

Nobody today “hates” common soldiers who fought — often bravely — for the wrong lost cause of the Confederacy. They are long gone, just as are the Union soldiers, black and white, whom they killed.

But after 150+ years many Americans still do not see that the root cause of the Confederate rebellion was absurd, morally wrong and about defending slavery — and this is another tragic aspect of American madness.

It would surely have been better had that old “irrepressible conflict” that all feared had proved resolvable. But it did not. Many Americans still don’t understand this history. They still do not understand that the slave-based South was wrong in every way to secede from the Republic just because it lost an election (to a great Republican no less). With so much disagreement about our own roots, it is perhaps no wonder we have trouble holding our Union together after this election too. Trump is no Lincoln. Nor is Biden. But some still want to fight, fight, fight, and even if necessary wage civil war, because they ... lost an election.
