Person believes there's an all-powerful god who, just to punish people who pissed him off created a realm of eternal torture and pain, the god can see everything you do, read every slightest thought, and keeps a list of everything you do.

How does a person who believes that function in any society but most of all a secular society? Shouldn't they be paralyzed with inaction for fear of commiting some obscure sin that gets them in bad with God?

And can we infer or deduce from a person's behaviour whether they're sincere about their professed faiths? Someone who believe in Hell for instance and a vengeful God should either never say a thing, or be the nicest person imaginable right?

How is that an accurate picture of God?

God created us to have Eternal life, to be like He is. It's our choice to accept the gift or not. If we choose not to, we get to live with the consequences of our choices.

As if the doctrine of an eternal hell were not part of Christian teaching, then you would embrace it.

A humble Christian does not know if hell is truly eternal. The Bible says we have no idea whatsoever what heaven is like, why do you think we can be sure of anything about hell?

All you do is look of contradictions in Scripture to forward your bizarre mission to bring down God and the Church. All you do is ask brainteaser questions to try to make the Church look fake or foolish. You never succeed. But you never really do is offer evidence for an alternative truth or ideology as to what life is all about. You have no idea if God exists or not, but you are trying to make damn sure no one will believe he does. So charming.

Majority of Christianity believe Hell is eternal. Catholicism does, that's at least half, and some Protestant denominations do too, dunno about the Orthodox branch.

Ya, heaven forbid you ever have to think about what you believe. Know how many times my beliefs had been questioned forcing me to think about them leading to new thoughts and greater conviction?

Christ frees The Christian from the fear of making mistakes. The nonbeliever to the contrary, is in fear of seeming an idiot to those around him, and so sticks with the crowd.

The question isn't whether it's eternal. The question is what does eternal mean?

According to Christianity we condemn ourselves to Hell when we choose hate and selfishness. As C.S. Lewis said that the door to hell is locked - from the inside. God hopes we don't choose this way, but He gave us freedom.

I must have made 6 or 7 different statements, challenges or questions your way of which you avoided every one of them. Still you keep patting yourself on your back.

Whether hell is forever or not is not the reason most Christians believe in God, love God and serve God. Ok? So just because you pretend that is the sticking point for you believing (when it is obvious it is not) do not try to imply that is what makes our faith and our trust in God so weird. We have plenty of empirical evidence for our faith and for our reason to believe heaven is for all who truly seek it. We are grateful. We are neither confused nor angry like you.

Perfect love casts out fear. When you feel the love of God you realize there is no reason to be afraid

It's strange how people perceive Christians as people who believe God is a God keeping a list of rights and wrongs.....

Christians (true Christians) know this is not what God does.

We are all sinners. Christians acknowledge Jesus died for our sins, so that we may be forgiven.
Once that is done, it's done. We give our life over to God and there is not check list of good deeds.
Once saved always saved.
A trust Christian will WANT to do what is right in God's eyes.

God has Law and commandments. God has Hell for punishing naughty people. One can reasonably assume if you break certain commandments you go to Hell.

Everyone will go to Hell, unless they accept Jesus Christ's sacrifice for their sins on the cross.
We can never be holy enough to be in the presence of God otherwise.

"When Pope Benedict XVI stressed that impenitent sinners risk “eternal damnation,” his remarks received coverage from many major media outlets (see Lyons, 2007). Perhaps modernity is so inundated by political correctness that it no longer concerns itself with the eternal consequence of sin, even though the Bible emphasizes it (Matthew 5:22; 8:12; 25:41-46; Mark 9:43; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9)."
Controversy About Hell Continues

This is because the Catholic church is about controlling people.
Because the Catholic church is viewed as the "model" (wrongly) of Christianity, people (wrongly) assume that is what Christianity is about......
