Since Schumer is holding America hostage to get Americans to pay for healthcare for illegals and those who won't pay for it themselves, can someone show the class where the Constitution says that is a power the Feds have?

Don't bring the "general welfare" bullshit, cuz making one person pay for something for another isn't general welfare.

It will be found in the penumbra clauses.

The whole "general welfare" thing is bogus. At least as an excuse for "free shit". The emphasis of the founders was on the word "general", not the word "welfare". They wanted to ensure that the government wouldn't get into the business of reward special interests with favors. Thus any spending need to be for general purposes, not just to appease specific groups.

You are actually asking people to look at the Constitution and what the federal government is and is not authorized to do?

How quaint. :)

Can someone show me where the Constitution says I must pay for someone else's healthcare.

Can someone show me where the Constitution says I have to pay for any other nation's border security but our own?
Can someone show me where the Constitution says I have to pay for someone else's storm or flood damage?
Can someone show me where the Constitution says I have to pay for someone else's retirement?
Can someone show me where the Constitution says I have to pay for someone else's economic distress?
Can someone show me where the Constitution says I have to pay for any other nation's healthcare?
Can someone show me where the Constitution says I have to pay for any other nation's pensions?
Can someone show me where the Constitution says I have to pay for any other nation's anything?

Actual text, quote: "promote the general Welfare"

Note the term is "promote"*, not "provide".

* Could also mean "not prevent" ...

Welfare meant the general condition in broad application, per dictionary of that time, not the guv'mint interpretation and policies of the Present.

Congress is not given any power whatsoever to create/enact legislation dealing with health care.

Article I, Section 8, states that Congress has the power to "...raise and support armies...[and]...provide and maintain a navy..."

Congress has the power to tax and spend.

That's about it. You, as a legal taxpayer, have to pay for the healthcare of the Armed Forces.

Nobody else.

Happy?

So when we hit a point when only a few can afford health care, then what?

It is not a question of healthcare being "paid for" by the government. The the people pay for the healthcare we get now. That sum is more, proportionally, than in most systems Americans consider to be "government run". That means the same level of healthcare presently available could be had with less expenditure. Those facts do not mean that U.S. healthcare has to paid for through government channels. The government's intervention in supervision and controls probably would be involved. It might be the creator of the system that takes the money now being spent and applies those funds more efficiently. In other words, those presently paying into the system as it functions now would continue to pay and would get more and better treatment, or would get the same treatment and pay less.

Do you have a receipt or anything to show exactly how much money you personally are being forced to pay?

For that matter, can anybody show us where the Constitution authorizes the federal government to provide any form of charity to anybody or to provide benefit to any special interest or individual?

The Federal government was intended to provide the national defense, promote, (not provide) the general welfare meaning everybody's welfare and not any targeted demographic, provide what processes were necessary for the general welfare of all such as postal roads, and only those laws and regulation necessary to allow the various states to function as one nation and not do violence to each other.

The intention was that anything else government provided to the people would be from the state and local level.

One of the most insane disconnects we see from the left is that their state government is corrupt and therefore they can't get it to do what they want. The concept of government of, for, and by the people is alien to them. So they look to the federal government to do what they want as if the federal government will somehow not be corrupt once it finds it can bribe the people with free stuff.
