Can one still buy bottled water in California? If so, what is the point of banning straws?

Just a heads up democrats are retards.. party is all but gone

Honest question. If you can still buy bottled water, the straw issue is a joke.

Your question is far from Honest...

Of course you can buy Bottle Water and you can also get straws.

You just can't get disposable plastic straws... Simple environmental issue...

Have you a problem with looking after the planet.

Could you please give us your solution to this problem... Will straws cure it? NO, But it will help stop getting it worse...

I think it's a fair question. We do tend to put little band aids on things and think we've accomplished something. That applies in many areas.

It could be that we're becoming intellectually lazy, not willing to tackle big problems on a macro scale. But more likely I think it's because we've lost the capacity to address them together, as one country. So all we can do is this and that.

But you still dispose of plastic bottles?

I believe streamlining the EBT system to accept only certain products and those products wrapped in boxes and paper would even help more. This would be a great improvement. And it would be legal because of the generosity of the taxpayers and the government administering it.

You can still get straws, they just must be the right kind.

As for the answer, there is no good explanation. Crazy environmentalists hate Americans far more than they ever loved the environment and take delight in fucking with Americans.

It should be the final straw for anyone to get over themselves and vote Trump 2020 for president.

most of that crap is a joke. while we do need to see what we use daily and understand it is killing our oceans, it's going to take more than righteous indignation from 1 state to make a difference. all countries need to see the mess we're creating and what we're doing to our eco-system.

needs to be an item on some political agenda to address or measures like this will push on for show but zero effect.

It should not be political, that is what is keeping anything from getting better.

it should be common sense. unfortunately it gets politicized to make people think they're doing something about it, but instead they ban plastic straws and wrap paper ones in the very plastic they banned.

There is a new report out that says that most of the plastic waste in the oceans is rom ships. 99% or higher of that waste is not straws.

So of course the proper response is to stop using plastic straws.
Perhaps there might be a better more appropriate response.
Sure not using straws may help ever so slightly but it is no better then a sop to the soul in the wrecking the planet crusade.

Here are the effects of bottled water. It makes no sense to ban one and not the other:

now they'll demand that we put water in the cardboard wax covered boxes we drank milk from in grade school.

thanks a lot man! :)

At the moment plastic straws are easier to phase out than plastic water bottles, so pick the low hanging fruit rather than waiting for the big solution.

That would seem to be the obvious answer to the question.
