Calls For Texas Governor To Resign

That's an understatement
Its a concession that no liberal would ever make in the same situation.

As more information becomes available Iā€™m not going to mislead myself or try to mislead anyone else

This is going to be a huge political issue that republican leaders on Texas will have to deal with

And they will

I guess Texas was just too cheap to winterize. I wonder if they allow major airlines to de ice?

So itā€™s fair to ask: why donā€™t wind turbines fail all the time in colder climates, such as Canada, Sweden or the American Midwest?

The answer, in short, is that turbines in colder places are typically equipped with de-icing and other tools, such as built-in heating. In Texas, where the weather is almost never this cold, they usually are not.

ā€œCold weather kits can keep [wind turbines] operating when temperatures plunge. This is the norm in colder states and in Europe,ā€ said Samuel Brock, a spokesman for the American Clean Power Association. ā€œHistorically in Texas, given the warm climate, it hasnā€™t been necessary.ā€

Sweden is a good example why rushing to green energy is a BAD idea:

"On Thursday, one of the coldest days of the winter so far, peak power prices in the south of Sweden were almost four times higher than in the northern regions."
....
"Bottlenecks have meant that power generated from the countryā€™s vast hydroelectric resources and an expansion of wind power in the north hasnā€™t been able to reach consumers in the south. Instead, they are increasingly dependent on imports of fossil-fuel generated electricity from Germany, Denmark and Poland."
.....
"In the meantime the chorus of complaint in Sweden continues to grow louder. On Feb. 1, for example, forestry company Holmen AB said it was forced to cut production of paper products due to high power prices."

Swedenā€™s Power Problems Are Down to Grid Manager: Analysts

.
No one else seems to have addressed this...but did you read your own article? "Green Energy" isn't anything to do with it, it's because the power grid hasn't been expanded from those greener sources of energy to meet demand. It's like having a windmill on your house but having it plugged into just the porch light.

Did you read my comment to the other poster who used Sweden as a positive example of wind farms???? I said:"Sweden is a good example why rushing to green energy is a BAD idea". My article addresses my point. Rushing to put into place a "green technology" without designing supporting features is idiotic.

Maybe this will help your understanding:

"Having a healthy power surplus nationally is not so great if you canā€™t supply major population and industrial centers. Itā€™s tempting to replace old and polluting, but steady, power plants near cities with wind turbines in less populated areas or offshore, but that will add a whole new challenge for grids. Most people donā€™t want pylons, turbines or plants in their backyard; finding appropriate sites is an increasing struggle for utilities. The likes of Germany, which has six reactors closing in the next two years, should pay heed."

The Swedes also pissed off their indigenous populations trampling on their way of life - also not very smart or caring:

The one fact whomever wrote that LEFT OUT??? We had plenty of natural gas capacity, but with the federal push for "green" energy, the natural gas was TURNED OFF when the freeze hit, and because it was not running, the condensation froze the pipes. So we couldn't get the RELIABLE energy source started because we let idiots push us into "green" initiatives.

No windmills, no blackouts. FACT!!!!

Yeah, it says it right there....without actually saying it:

"Texas does not have as much storage capacity as other states, experts said, because the resource-laden state can easily pull it from the ground when itā€™s needed ā€” usually.

"Of the storage that the state does have, the resources are somewhat difficult to get to. Luke Jackson, another natural gas analyst for S&P Global Platts, said that physically withdrawing stored natural gas is slower than the immediate, ready supply of lines from production and is insufficient to make up for the dramatic declines in production."

Why was production down? Why was stored supply difficult to get? Slower?

BECAUSE IT WAS OFFLINE to make way for wind and solar. 20% of the grid was wind/solar, and that failed nearly 100%

Nope. It was off because electrical demand is typically much lower in the winter, dumbfuck. It was excess production capacity. It froze because Texas is run by dumbfucks.

The fact still remains, no wind and solar, no outage. Period.

But ERCOT was run by dumbfucks, yes. 5 board members resigned and got the fuck out.

Abbott was far from the firstRepublican to deploy such blatantly false talking points in response to the ongoing crisis in Texas, which has left at least 10 people dead. But the governor's decision to appear on Fox News and attack a policy that has not even been implemented as Texans resorted to burning their belongingsto keep their children warm was viewed as yet another example of his failed leadership.

Looks like green energy is getting firmly shoved up the rights ass. Which is amazing since thatā€™s where their heads are.
Millions of Texans are burning their belongings in June to keep their children warm?! They must be Democrats.

Bullshit. Has not a fucking thing to do with it.
It was the cold and the lack of preparedness in their systems to operate at those temps, dumbfuck.

Yeah no. Give that nonsense a rest, pal. Texas is a natural gas state and if what you allege is factual, it would have been exposed as such, but it wasn't because the facts are different from your "alternate facts". It doesn't say anything the likes of which you have falsely insisted is the case.

Texas is a natural gas state. Fact.

Texas recently shifted 20% of the grid to wind and solar. Fact.

Wind and solar failed 100%. Fact.

The defense rests....

Which was nothing. Agreed.

That being said, their inability to get enough energy from outside their grid is a HUGE weak point and is squarely on decisions made by the Texas government.
I dont consider that a weak point at all

because when china attacks the energy grid in the US through cyber warfare it will not work in Texas

and sooner or later the CCP will show its true colors

but I concede that the Texas grid failed to live up to expections
Texasā€™s grid met expectations of people who knew of its vulnerability.

This was predicted to happen.
Deliberately.

And in the winter Texas only gets 10% of itā€™s energy from wind and solar.

And even THAT only went offline because the idiots in Texas didnā€™t install heaters like they do in colder states

Renewables had Zero to do with the natural gas crash

80% dependent on natural gas that failed. You have no defense.
