The timeline of slavery in the USA is well documented.
First Lincoln emancipated the slaves. Then Woodrow Wilson reinstituted slavery in America in 1917-1918.
Then the biggest, most infamous, most evil, most brutal slavedriver in American history, FDR, reinstituted slavery in 1940. Slavery expired briefly in 1947 and then another Democrat, Harry Truman reinstituted slavery again in 1948.
Nixon ran on a platform of ending LBJ's war and emancipating the slaves. And he kept those campaign promises.
Mission Accomplished.
But we must still be vigilant against the Democratic party of slavery, racism and authoritarianism. Every once in a while the Democrats still dip thier rotten evil toes into the slavery pool, checking the water to see if it's safe for slavery again.
The latest example was when Charlie Rangle (good riddance) introduced a bill in 2013 to reinstitute slavery in the USA. It was rejected but the Democratic party of slavery was definitely putting out the slavery feelers again. Testing public reaction.
What the fuck are you talking about?
If you are talking about "conscription", Nixon didn't end that because he wanted to. He ended it because even the military didn't really want it anymore. (Only the Army was still conscripting people at that point.)
While I personally benefited from the all-volunteer military, I do see some problems with it. It's easy to get into a 20 year pointless war if your kids aren't in any danger of going. Conscription gives everyone skin in the game.
