California kicking patients our of their nursing homes.

I would think the Republicans here would be cheering. This is what they are advocating. Kicking people off Medicare and ending it.

It seems they will allow their hatred of others to override their principles.
Spot on. And look at most of the comments so far on this thread as evidence of that.

Some of California’s most vulnerable nursing home residents, many of whom have nowhere else to go, are receiving letters from their health care plans saying they are no longer eligible for long-term care.

Another example of the results of liberal socialism on the Left Coast of the USA.

The residents included a 68-year-old amputee with diabetes, memory loss and kidney disease who required dialysis three times a week, and an 82-year-old man with congestive heart failure and diabetes who wasn’t strong enough to transfer himself from his bed to a wheelchair, Jones said.

All because Medi-Cal is running short and is desperately trying to cut back spending.

Golick, the ombudsman for several northern counties, said a man in his 80s in Trinity County received a notice from Partnership HealthPlan earlier this year that he was no longer covered for nursing care he’d depended on for a decade. Like many elderly residents, she said, he felt he had no choice but to comply. He told her he might sleep on someone’s couch, or in his brother’s car.

Add a few more to the homeless population.

The Peoples Republic of California if the most fucked-up state in the Union.

Must be making room for illegals to take their place of residence.

Well first of all- thank you for sharing this story. It is certainly concerning.

We have California residents who are receiving benefits from the government- so I am glad that none of these patients are having to rely completely on Capitalism for their support. Capitalism would have never let these people into for profit nursing homes unless they could pay the full price themselves.

The article is interesting- but maddeningly incomplete.

In one notable example, three dozen nursing home residents in San Luis Obispo County were informed on the same day that their Medi-Cal managed-care plan was cutting off payment for nursing home care, said Karen Jones, the county’s long-term care ombudsman.

The article never states what the reason given for the notifications that their managed care plan was cutting off payment. I would like to know why.
The socialists running california make the rules and set the prices

if medi-cal is underwater is a failure of socialism

Are you really so sick that you believe that?

I said it. I believe it. If it wasn't true you would have provided a rebuttal as opposed to a silly attack on me. You pretty much enforce my point by doing that.

The CDC says there are 15,600 nursing homes caring for approximately 1.3 patients. 69% of those are for-profit operations.

For those who want to find a non-profit nursing home near them, go to https://www.seniorliving.org/assisted-living/non-profit/

And, let me point out something. There are millions of seniors like myself who live with their families. We believe that loving children do what they can to pay back their parents for the years spent preparing them for a life.

It's not right to make absolute statements but, in my opinion, religious-oriented families are far more likely to care for their elderly than non. A huge bloc that believes that way are Latinos. It has nothing to do with religion so much as tradition. The elderly pass on their wisdom to the young as has been done since the beginning of time.

Forgive me for making a snide remark in response to what I consider a non-informed and biased comment.

Many can and do as you note......many others can not. Many elderly have medical needs that simply can not be met in the home. For many elderly an outside home may even be better. Many have activities for people to get involved in. If an elderly person has to be left at home all day because the kids have to work, that isn't necessarily a good thing.

It's not right to make absolute statements but, in my opinion, religious-oriented families are far more likely to care for their elderly than non. A huge bloc that believes that way are Latinos. Nothing you said really even addressed what I said.

This is typical of the left: They imagine the most hateful and depraved things possible, like evicting sick gravely ill people from nursing homes, and then call that the truth.

It says a lot more about the sickness on the left than anything else and there are no republicans running the California state government which is making these decisions.

California is running a one party dictatorship and when gravely ill old people are thrown
out of nursing homes because of budget problems, at the same time California is putting into law newly subsidized health care for illegals, you can see the democrat's priorities in action.

It seems they will allow their hatred of others to override their principles.
By "hatred of others" do you mean not wanting to subsidize the health care of criminals who live here illegally and now the state, that's taxpayers, subsidize their health care at the expense of gravely ill seniors, for example?

Seldom have I seen someone so proud of his hateful ignorance and malicious imagination.

I believe in a balanced budget. I am prolife, I fully support the 2nd Amendment. I believe that employers that hire illegals should be arrested. What makes me a "lefty"?

This didn't happen?

Mitch McConnell says deficit ballooned because of Social Security, Medicare, not Republican Tax Cuts

I do support making sure that the waitress here illegally is healthy. You want the illegal cooking your dinner to be sick? As long as we ignore the employers what else should I support?

Your hateful demonization of republicans makes you a lefty.

Since you have a link about it I guess it did happen. McConnell is defending tax cuts and says the only way to lower the deficit is to make cuts to SS and Medicare, which is not literally true but certainly true in general.
It's one way to lower the deficit and I don't agree with him on this.

But no where do I see him advocating throwing sick seniors out the street and this is California's way of finding money with which to subsidize health care for illegals . So stop running from the issue by quoting Mitch McConnell.
Show some balls and take responsibility for what you defend, if you have any.

Not having illegals cook and serve meals.
You want to subsidize criminals and not only that you want to subsidize them at the expense
of gravely ill old people. That's utter bullshit.

This is precisely the Issue. Wholesale population transfusion.... It's not hidden anymore. The beast has now decided to choose its own electorate instead of being chosen by the electorate.
So true and well put. Remember when these people were just "hiding in the shadows" and only wanted to do the work
lazy fat Americans would not do? And little by little the State has granted them privilege after privilege (health care, driver's licenses, free tuition, etc.) giving illegal aliens de facto citizenship.

It's the socialist left doing what they do so well.

They get their foot in the door by using emotional appeals (it's not fair...they're just poor people who want to work for you...Jesus would befriend illegals, etc.) and in time incrementally, they have gotten everything they want and now that foot is on your neck in the form of solid US taxpayers subsidizing an entire class of protected people living here illegally.

It's Alinskyism writ large using people's good nature against them and turning them into captives in their own country.
There's a reason why he thanked the devil in his book and acknowledged his inspiration.

I backed up my reasons. I condemn the Democrats every bit as much.

I addressed all of that.

NOBODY is doing anything to stop businesses from hiring illegals. No one. With that being the case, I support the idea of them not spreading diseases.

I would enact a huge tax on business as they are the reason for the problems.

Business hires them. We allow them to do that. Why do you not want to make sure they know our traffic laws?

I backed up my reasons. I condemn the Democrats every bit as much.
Really? Because in this specific case, California kicking seniors out of nursing homes, you passed up a real chance to criticize the actual people that pulled this trigger (California democrats who run the state 100%) in favor of slandering republicans who had nothing to do with this decision.
So either you are a fucking liar or you just don't know why you say the things you say and do.
Hence, those who do agree with him should support what is going on here.
No. Wrong. Not at all. You don't automatically approve of throwing gravely sick seniors out of California's senior care
facilities because you, in principle, want to reduce SS and Medicare entitlements. I won't even say nice try. It's ridiculous.

NOBODY is doing anything to stop businesses from hiring illegals. No one. With that being the case, I support the idea of them not spreading diseases.

Trump is doing plenty to battle illegal immigration but I bet you think he is an orange virus....am I right?

Where does this idiocy end? I.E. I support trying to stop the hiring of illegals but since no one else does then we should
give them drivers licenses and subsidize their auto insurance (as they do in California) so they can get to work and back home.
Or I oppose hiring illegals but since others do we should give them the right to vote since we want them to be actively involved good citizens and workers.
You have an endless supply of b.s. it seems.

Trump is doing NOTHING about the problem. The employers.

Business hires them. We allow them to do that. Why do you not want to make sure they know our traffic laws?
A moronic premise. We do not "allow" businesses to hire illegals. Trump and ICE gets a lot of criticism when they raid
big meat packing plants, for instance, and remove dozens of people at a time. ICE raids 7 Mississippi chicken plants, detaining nearly 700 workers

Yes, a blind eye is turned most of the time because of sanctuary policies in many places but the proper response to a crime is not to make it easier and more convenient to commit more crimes.

They were processed and returned. Nothing was done to the employer. We been raiding businesses here and there for decades. What has it done about the problem?

Not one employee removed out of 700? :icon_rolleyes: Document that.

The problem is horrible. I saw it up close in the wine industry of Napa Valley.
However that has nothing to do with the issue at hand, as much as you'd love to duck and spin your way out of it.
