California Gripped By Driest Year Ever — With No Relief In Sight

driest year in a 120 years, how about in 121 years, or what about since the first mission was built by the spanish

and if its so dry, why is the california democrats in charge approving solar projects in the desert that require water.

Really? Require water? In what way? And you do realize what drives the turbined in a coal fired plant, don't you? Then again, maybe you don't.

Yes, really.

The Desert is made up of trillions of particles we in the "learned" world call dirt. Dirt gets on Solar Panels (which I will call, "stuff" to keep it simple for Old Rock and matthew). When dirt gets on "stuff", it must be washed.

Old Rock, Washing serves two purposes.
1. Cleaning improves how well stuff works
2. Cleaning stuff makes it safer to work around
3. Cleaning stuff helps stop it from breaking.

Funny, in the fantasy world of, "Global Warming and Green Energy saving the world", its so perfect it does not even get dirty, it pure, clean, green, energy.

You have not the intelligence and understanding to imagine how water is used for the World's largest structures ever built yet you will talk question if I understand the principles of Coal energy.

to answer the question;
what drives the turbined in a coal fired plant,

That one is simply answered with another question Old Rock

Old Rock, what is one referring to when ones states the "christmas tree".

It is a turbine related question.

California Gripped By Driest Year Ever — With No Relief In Sight

As California enters its third consecutive dry winter, with no sign of moisture on the horizon, fears are growing over increased wildfire activity, agricultural losses, and additional stress placed on already strained water supplies.

The city of Los Angeles has received only 3.6 inches of rain this year — far below its average of 14.91 inches, USA Today reported. And San Francisco is experiencing its driest year since recordkeeping began in 1849. As of November, the city had only received 3.95 inches of rain since the year began.

The state is enduring its driest year on record and while a drought emergency has not yet been officially declared, the U.S. National Drought Monitor shows that as of December 24, nearly the entire state is gripped by severe to extreme drought conditions.

The portion of the state currently hit hardest by drought includes the Central Valley, a prime agricultural area, and “a lack of rain and snow this winter could bring catastrophic losses to California agriculture, as water allotments are slashed by state agencies,” USA Today reported.

The lack of precipitation is also extending what’s been a devastating wildfire season in California. According to AccuWeather, fire season usually tapers off in the fall and December marks the beginning of the wet season, which usually extends through March. This year, however, looks to be different. “It will remain dry through February and probably early March in California,” Lead Long-Range Forecaster Paul Pastelok said. “It’s possible that a system or two could reach the state, but not enough to put a dent in the drought.”

The San Joaquin Valley is a natural desert, its only a prime agricultural area because of the billions the liberal/democrats spent building dams and water projects with tax payer money. The Biggest Subsidy in the world. Further this "prime agricultural area" is now suffering due to laws restricting the water flowing into it passed by democrat Senator Diane Feinstein.

Water allotments have already been slashed, not because of drought, because of politics, something smells of rotten smelt.

Water wars are coming. Wars now are over oil and energy. Within a decade or so though they'll be over water as well.

So build so desalination plants on the coast and pipe the water to the interior of the state. It isn't like there isn't an ocean for California to tap into.

The liberals/democrats/environmentalist, will not let us. We have plenty of water, we need energy to move water.

Kill Energy production kills water production, which drives the price of food up, which causes people to starve. Green Energy can not pump the water we need, it never will, so when you go to the store and have to pay double for things like Lettuce, thank your local supporter of Solar Energy and Wind Power.

What makes you think alternative energy cannot pump water? Even more oddly, what makes you think an energy system with, perhaps, 10% alternative energy sources can't pump water?

A great deal of Californias energy right now comes from non-fossil fuel sources. They call it hydroelectricity.

It's not like we didn't know this was coming. We were told that the Pacific was in a La Nina cold spell that would last several years.

Last time we had this kind of drought we were supposed to build desalinization plants. But noooooooo. It rained and the fools thought we would never again have the Pacific water get cold.

The courts shut off the water to the San Joaquin Valley to protect the delta smelt. What did they think was going to happen?

Because of the power it takes, California is spending hundreds of billions on Green Energy that will never meet our needs. Never.

Ever read the book Cadillac Desert? This book puts it in plain English how even HydroElectric is a failure, but what the book says best is the amount of energy it takes to pump water in California. Some years ago when the book was written it took about 80% of all the electricity produced in California to pump the water we need. I imagine that has rose, of course unless they shutdown enough industry and agriculture so that we do not have as much a need for water.

So the course of action taken is to shut down all fossil fuel power plants in California and replace them with the worlds largest Solar plants and Wind Farms, build for the next 50 years and never come close to having the energy we need while at the same time we are broke, bankrupt, we owe hundreds of billions, california, and now we must spend hundreds of billions and build ever bigger, use more natural resources, ignore all environmental laws and build on protect Federal Lands so that Green Energy can circumvent law and build no matter if it works or destroys the environment.

You can say and speculate Green Energy can pump water, but in real life, the real world, Green Energy does not pump one drop of water in California even though we have been building the worlds largest structures, the worlds largest in size only Green Energy power plants for the last 40 years. 40 years of complete failure. A University Experiment at best.
