Smithsonian Channel recently aired a program on the history of the jet engine and the next day a SW Airlines jet engine exploded.
Last night, Smithsonian aired a program on the C-130 and another program about an airliner forced to consider a highway landing. They referenced an airliner landing on a highway in Georgia.

There's another thread here somewhere recently where some Leftys say that military spending is a hoax....unnecessary.
They go on complaining about how it's just greedy Republicans getting rich using the Military Industrial Complex (or something like that)

Meanwhile, neglected planes are falling from the skies on a regular basis.
I guess they don't care if we have a military that actually "works"

If they spent the money on things that actually need it, like airplane maintenence, there would be less complaining.
