BYU Honor Code victimizes rape victims

All rapists need to be arrested and thrown in prison.

But women in many cases have willingly put themselves in situations that help facilitate the rape. And thus also need to be held accountable for their actions and behavior. .......

the woman needs to held accountable for her behavior?

What a moron.......
Did she break the rule and endanger herself? You to COWARD to reply?

Which woman and which rule are you talking about?

The woman who was held captive over night by some sleaze bag who violated the rule to not be out all night?
I'm talking about the dorm room.

Making out with some guy in a room is not justification or an invitation to rape.

If she was walking around the campus naked it would not have been a justification for rape even if it violated a dress code.

How do you think she should be punished?

Should the rapist receive a lesser charge because she violated school policy?
1, True BUT it aided in it happening.
2, Also true.
3, I think she should be made to attend another school. The logic to that is simple. If another student sees that result she MAY not be so prone to repeat it.
4, No, full force of the law.

She did not aid and abet anything.

She said, 'no', and anyone who dicourages reporting of rape, is anti-American.
Consider what would have happened to her if she had been caught without being raped. When a person goes hiking in violation of orders to stay out of a dangerous area, then requires rescue after being injured, charges are brought against them regardless of their injuries. In this case, the girl gets punished, but the boy should go to jail.

The real question remains, should a person NOT face consequences for violating regulations DESIGNED TO PREVENT INJURY if they are injured while doing so?
She violated a rule.
He violated the law.
BOTH should be punished accordingly.

So the woman who was kidnapped should be punished for staying out all night?

Okey dokey
Would she be punished for not staying out all night if she had not been kidnapped? If not, then no.

Did you read it? According to the OP, this is exactly what happened to one girl.

The one where she left campus? He should get the full force of the law. The OP did not provide BYU's off campus policy so how that should play out is at best a guess.

You are the sheep, DF, and your kind will not win with your candidate.

Read the links carefully. Come back and apologize for being a doofus.

I do not agree with that. Women do need to be smart and avoid dangerous situations, but a rapist is an opportunist who attacks when he thinks a woman is vulnerable, NOT just because a woman puts herself in danger.

Yes. We cannot view all rape situations through the same lens. I know of a case where a bladder-shy high school girl would wait and get a pass from a teacher to use the restroom during class time instead of going to the restroom during passing period when it very busy. She was shy, she was gentle, she was vulnerable. And one young predator watched her, knew her vulnerabilities and then one day raped her when she was in the restroom alone.

In a case like this, we cannot say, "Well...if she had just gone to the restroom at the proper time when others were present...." This young lady was not "asking" for anything. It's a very different case from someone knowingly breaking a rule or putting herself in what is known to be a dangerous situation.

Correct.

Correct.

However the policy specifies.
Should the rapist receive a lesser charge because she violated school policy?
Absolutely not.

The dorm room one idiot. Jake is well rather stupid. He posts two crimes in one thread.
Take a deep breath and focus.

I posted several links the reading of which clearly reveals that some of the girls had been restrained against their will and then raped. You want to punish those girls, right?

The off campus one overnight is different. A kidnapping caused that NOT the victim. I would be prone to support her in her argument.
Progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Bishop started proceedings against here. The links show that this is not the only case where the victim was victimized by the person who was her religious leader. And the Church is demonstrating no interest in changing.
