Liz Truss abandons Gove’s plan for problem-solving courts

Gove was an absolute twat but received plaudits for sorting out the Justice department after the mess created by his predecessor Chris Grayling .

Anyway his brexit disloyalty was rewarded with the sack and the new Secretary has decided to roll back some of his reforms.

US-style “problem-solving” courts, in which judges review the progress of convicted offenders to ensure that they comply with their rehabilitation programme in return for staying out of prison, were championed by the former justice secretary, Michael Gove.

These sound an alternative to prison that was worth trying and its a shame that the experiment is now dead.

Where's Ivanhoe when ya need him? Or Robin Hood? Or Cromwell.........? Though it depends on which Cromwell ya want, the hero of liberty or the regicidal dictator.......... Depends on which historian you talk to........ :eusa_whistle:

Let's see here -- a poster whose singular purpose here is defending knuckle-dragging Islamists is talking about Britain entering the dark ages?

Heck -- all he has to do is visit Lutton or Tower Hamlets and he can partake in all the dark ages crap he desires.

Clearly a step in the right direction. Criminal activity should result in punitive action b y the state. Liberal approach of trying to understand criminals, so we can help them is nonsense. if you want to get to know them; write them a letter. In prison.

Its an initiative from Texas, hardly a bastion of liberal values.
