February 4, two months prior to the current tariff war:

China is a major producer of US electronics, and it's likely that cell phones, laptops, and other devices could become more expensive.

Oligarch Tim Apple, who used to be a Democrat supporter, gave Trump a million dollars for his inauguration. Precisely so Trump will exempt Apple products from his tariffs.

Today:

Phones, other electronics exempt from new tariffs, Trump administration says

The Trump administration announced late Friday night that smartphones, computers and other electronic components are exempt from what the White House calls “reciprocal” tariffs, days after the United States imposed the highest levies on foreign goods in a century.

[snip]

For makers of electronics, particularly Apple, the break on tariffs is likely to be a huge relief. Apple has faced the prospect of a new import tax of roughly $700 or more on each $1,000 iPhone imported from China, based on tariff rates the White House increased to at least 145 percent.

At least for now, Apple won’t have to decide whether to take a hit to its profits or possibly raise prices significantly for iPhone buyers.

TA-DAAAAA!

Bribery works.

Trump has made our country as corrupt as Russia.

It also tracks that the orange bag O' shit has absolutely no idea what he's doing.

Maybe this is the reason.

Apple will spend more than $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years

Apple today announced its largest-ever spend commitment, with plans to spend and invest more than $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years. This new pledge builds on Apple’s long history of investing in American innovation and advanced high-skilled manufacturing, and will support a wide range of initiatives that focus on artificial intelligence, silicon engineering, and skills development for students and workers across the country.

Trump folds again.
This isn't folding. This is about a man who responds to flattery and bribery.

Like when he got a love letter from Kim Jong Un.

Or when Xi puts on a huge pageant for him.

Trump invariably switches from tough guy talk to posting loving thoughts about them.

When the CEO of Apple gave Trump a million dollars, you could see from miles and miles away Trump was going to exempt him from the pending tariff war.

With all honesty, it more like, 'The Art of the Deal'

"Remember, the army of millions and millions of human beings screwing in little- little screws to make iPhones, that kind of thing is going to come to America." - Commerce Secretary Howard Lugnut, Face The Nation, April 6

Nope.

These fools are hilarious. Joey bribem was being paid to aid China, Trump just helped an American company and these same blind bats see bribery everywhere.

Too funny.

I don’t think it’s about bribery. I think it’s about Trump knowing Americans are going to be PISSED if their iPhones cost twice as much.

Trump is just proving his threats are empty.

Westwall, when a party has nothing to offer, this is all they have to offer. :laughing0301:

Ironically, yes.

Trump brags about his Atlantic City casino in that book. The one which went bankrupt.

Only Trump could lose money on a casino.

I like the casino business. I like the scale, which is huge, I like the glamour, and most of all, I like the cash flow. If you know what you are doing and you run your operation reasonably well, you can make a very nice profit. If you run it very well, you can make a ton of money.

Trump has no idea what he is doing.

His desiccated brain is stuck in the 80s when he railed and railed about Japan.

They are going to be pissed when a lot of things cost twice as much.

For example, any products which cost less than $800 have always been exempt from tariffs.

For about five minutes, Trump removed that exemption.

Then someone sat the toddler down and explained to him that Temu and Aliexpress and Shein are heavily used by Americans and they would get mightily pissed immediately if massive tariffs more than doubled the cost of their fast fashion clothing and small electronics.

I believe It's more about populism. Gotta keep those screens affordable so the sheep stay addicted to propaganda.

Bbbbbbbb BUT both are corrupt. Sadly so many are unwilling to admit that.
Dude, I've been saying it for years and years.

Whenever I talk about tax expenditures, I ALWAYS talk about members of Congress being bribed to put them in the tax code and that they mostly benefit the wealthy.

As for the ACA, it didn't just benefit insurance companies, Obama also put provisions which benefit labor unions, and I posted about that many, many times. I think if you search on my name and the word "boondoggle", you'll see that.

Example:

In fact, the ACA was a windfall boondoggle for employer-provided health insurance. It raised the tax exemption ceiling.

Buy, you see, this is a DIFFERENT topic.
