He was not in front of the car when it was stationary. When Crazy reversed to do a K turn, her front end swung toward him.

"IF" he was in danger. He knew damned well she wasn't going deliberately hit him. He had already made up his mind to shoot her if she tried to flee, which is agin' the law.
