This case here, my take is it's somewhere between entitlement and panic. The minute the officer told her to get out of the car she knew she'd be arrested, and she didn't want that so she floored it. And tried to avoid the other officer at the last instant, but it was too late. It happened so quickly she probably didn't even realize she was risking her life. It was a "you can't arrest me, I'm outta here" moment.

DHS and Tom Homan prefer greatly to deport illegal aliens who commit further crimes after the crime of illegally crossing the border. In may jurisdictions, they can safely and relatively easily pick up such criminals at jails and couthouses after they are granted bail.

But, in sanctuary cities, it is not possible to focus on criminals since local authorities consider themselves some kind of "Robin Hood" outlaws, helping the downtrodden, by interfering with ICE operations. So they have to go to neighborhoods and worksites to find the illegals.

Let's not be silly, DHS is going around detaining and grabbing people, regardless of the city. That's why they end up picking up so many randos without any criminal history whatsoever. How many hispanics working someone's house, on some construction site, or walking around have been detained illegally and asked to see zee papers, just because they're brown?
