If we get 2 quarters with the economy shrinking… you can use that word

But if unemployment is low, no inflation and a booming stock market it is hard to say people are suffering

How about this, let's just go with the original definition of recession? There are so many variables that can go into "people's suffering" that may be due to their own actions, and may not be related to the stock market, or inflation.
