Family watched Aladdin last night. What a shame.

2 funny things my boys pointed out: When jafar gets the genie he tells the princess and her father you will bow to me...and the sultan starts to bow! We had to rewind it, it was hilarious! Then there was one comment that made my son remark "that's so 90's"

This makes me incredibly sad. Losing my brother in the same way and just weeks before his 1 yr angelversary it really hits home. Robin may your rest in peace and I hope you find happiness on the other side that you could not find here in this world. You made us all laugh until we cried and for that I thank you :(

Another Hollywood star committed suicide. Why is that surprising or even breaking news?

I suffer from depression and it's not always easy. Some days are better than others. It's not always easy to know what demons somebody is wrestling with. I wish his family the best.

But it is difficult for males to seek help; depression isn't "manly":

Men with depression are more likely than depressed women to abuse alcohol and other substances, according to Jill Goldstein, director of research at the Connors Center for Women's Health and Gender Biology at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Depressed men may also try to mask their sadness by turning to other outlets, such as watching TV, playing sports and working excessively, or engaging in risky behaviors, Goldstein told Live Science in an interview earlier this year. Men's symptoms of depression may be harder for other people to recognize, and the illness is missed more frequently in men, Goldstein said. Men with depression are more likely than women with the condition to commit suicide, Goldstein said. ating mental health problem.
Men with depression may go longer without being diagnosed or treated, and so men may develop a more devastasting mental health problem.

CNN anchor last night corrected herself after her use of the idiom 'wrestling with demons.' It's a medical issue, not a religious, or character issue. It's an often-used but nonetheless unfortunate coice of words which only compunds the difficulty many have seeking treatment. I applaud the newswoman for mentioning it on-air.

IMO depression is for the weak minded and weak willed. Lots of people have bad days, falls on hard times and suffers tragedies in their lives. It takes a strong person to overcome life's hardships.

Being bummed out or feeling sorry for yourself is not what clinical depression is. It's a chemical imbalance in the brain. Not a matter of choice or being weak-minded. Every emotion we feel is the result of these chemicals being produced by our hypothalamus. Variations in our genes sometimes result in imbalances being produced after a given stimulus event. For some people this variation results in too much, or too little of a given chemical being produced and the result is a clinical condition.

I'll assume Lonestar's just a troll and not actually stupid.

Say's who? Some drug company?

It's bullshit that weak minded people feed into.

You prolly get hundreds of dollars of drugs each month at taxpayer expense for your phony "condition". Maybe you're on disability and refuse to work and get $3000 a month from the taxpayers. All because "i feel sad".

I agree with your last sentence, as for your first sentence...... absolutely clueless. :cuckoo:

Add in societal pressure, and one other scientific THEORY. Humans, in the developed world, no longer live in a 'normal' manner. We are encased, in a sense, within concrete, paved roads, and buildings. Less contact with land, except that covered by foundations. I have read nations with more sunlight overall, have less depression. Perhaps the chemical imbalances are exacerbated by an unnatural, human constructed environment? Again, just theory.

You can cite as many people as you like it will not change my opinion. Too many people rely on the gullible among you to buy into their silly claims so they can profit from it. They create a new disorder to sell whatever new drug that comes along. They've been doing it for years and you people keep buying what they're selling.

I take no medication, and work a full time job. Hard work is great therapy.

Oh... and you're a retard.

Thanks for admitting you're one of the weak minded.
