Considering 99.9999% take off and land without incident, this is obviously untrue. But they are NOT filling them with the most competent, in the majority of cases.

Irrelevant. If they are prioritizing hiring diversity over competence, they are not getting the most competent.Considering 99.9999% take off and land without incident, this is obviously untrue.
Ok. I think I will wait until the investigation is complete.Trump owns this show.
What is being reported now does not the helicpter being at the right height or position.Seems there was.
That crash was attributed to "bad weather."

Passenger jet with 64 aboard collides with Army helicopter while landing at Reagan Airport near DC
There was no immediate word on casualties, but all takeoffs and landings from the airport near Washington have been halted.apnews.com
But then, from your source:
"The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) determined that the cause of the accident was pilot error. The pilots failed to switch on the engines' internal ice protection systems, used reverse thrust in a snowstorm prior to takeoff, tried to use the jet exhaust of a plane in front of them to melt their ice, and failed to abandon the takeoff even after detecting a power problem while taxiing and having ice and snow build up on the wings.
How much do they normally miss each other by?Those routes have been around for decades I don't think so. If a helicopter is at the proper height and close to the easter bank of the river there is no problem.
Very murky preliminary details.
It looks as though the helicopter or drone aimed for the plane?
60 on board plane. At least 3 bodies recovered.
Terrorism is a possibility.
Trump's DOGE office already having affect on things. Like this crash.
Not sure of the cause but if their incompetence was to blame, I hope they get fired
Why wouldn’t you?
If memory serves it was ways. Half mile or more. It was cool watching planes take off and land from that view. How much do they normally miss each other by?
So generally they are separated by 2,600 feet or 8.5 football fields but in this case right on top of each other? If memory serves it was ways. Half mile or more. It was cool watching planes take off and land from that view.
It looks that way. I was on missions there for 3 years and we never even came close to hitting a commercial airliner. Most of the issues we had was just of there in MD with the weekend pilots flying Cesna's.So generally they are separated by 2,600 feet or 8.5 football fields but in this case right on top of each other?
I wasn't there but...
So this does not seem like a mistake happened in the last few seconds. They were way too close for a good bit?It looks that way.
