However, he did not want to pardon him immediately after the election either, so as to drive home the point that is what he was waiting for to pardon him, so he waited a month after the election to pardon him.

Not true - the pardon would have electoral significance in November.

Yeah, but years would have gone by if he had done it early on...and it would have been closer to all of Trump's pardons which had never gotten the real heads on... like a bull, scrutiny that all other presidents had received for their pardons,

due to 1/6 and all the attention on his impeachment and the 1/6 actions so it could have been pulled off and forgotten before Trump ever decided to run again, or thought that through persuasion he could even convince those upset with him for 1/6 and his actions and lack there of, would support him again. His pardoning of his son could have brought attention to Trump's pardons zeroing out the contentious event.....

It was another option....though risky..... It seems he could have just believed, after Trump's reign, it was out of the question, if he did want to bring law and order back....

But from my understanding, NO ONE THOUGHT at the time of Hunter's dragging through the mud with his laptop and photos, that Joe would even run again.... I know I thought and my family thought at the time, and were lead to believe, Biden was a one term fix. Biden announced running when Trump did.

One other possibility for not just pardoning hunter upfront is that Biden could have thought they wouldn't find much on Hunter with the lap top other than his sexual escapades and drug use to smear him with and nothing criminal, as a naive or snowed over, father?
