That would be the rules that Hunter got pardoned for. The president can issue a pardon at any point after a crime is committed and before, during or after criminal proceedings have taken place. Doesn't that kind of tacitly admit one or more crimes were actually committed? Else why do the pardon if there was no crime?

Not really. The acceptance of the pardon by the convicted, pretty much does, as you said tacitly admit his own guilt. A presidential pardon only pardons convictions or in some cases acts know or unknown, such as possible crimes, not yet prosecuted.

I wasn't even speaking to the gun charges, which at least are somewhat weak (as far as it goes to jailing someone over it, anyway).

I made the comment that Hunter should have received the same sentence as Cohen, since they both pled guilty to the same crime of tax evasion.

Sorry you do not see Biden Pardons similarly to all other Presidents, but it does not change thing. You can be happy in the fact, he had paid the back taxes and penalties prior to trial, hoping it would be dropped, and the treasury gets to keep the money. Most of the pardons, I have read about, included huge sums in fines and restitutions, never paid, that were wiped clean by presidential pardon. Cheer up.

He is the lamest of lame ducks, eh? If there were ever a time and place where a U.S. President has no need to give a shit what anyone thinks or says, this is it.

I would wager that if he had asked DJT, Trump would have agreed to pardon Hunter, but I can see why Biden didn't want to put himself in that position, or to make Trump look gracious. It goes against the Hitler Narrative.

I would have taken that bet. There is no concern with trump being gracious. It's not in his nature. The pardon protects Hunter from a politicized future prosecution. Besides, if his name wasn't Biden he wouldn't have been prosecuted in the first place.
