A flotilla seeking to break Israel’s aid blockade of Gaza has said it was attacked by a drone for the second time in less than 24 hours.

The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which is carrying pro-Palestinian activists, including Greta Thunberg, said in a statement early on Wednesday that it had been attacked by another drone, which dropped an incendiary device on one of its boats, the Alma, as it was moored in the port of Sidi Bou Said in Tunisia. None of the passengers or crew were harmed and no structural damage was caused, it said

The flotilla posted a video on Instagram of Wednesday’s attack that shows a luminous object hitting the boat and fire erupting on board. It was not possible to immediately verify the video.

The group said the British-flagged Alma had sustained fire damage to its top deck and that an investigation was under way.....

Speaking from onboard the Alma, the activist Thiago Ávila said: “We know what’s happening is outrageous, but it’s nothing compared to what Palestinians have endured for the past 22 months. “That’s why we keep going, why we set sail for Gaza. It’s what most people on this planet want and hope for. They’re tired of seeing children starve, hospitals bombed, schools reduced to rubble.”

IDF Soldier Testifies That on 10/7 Unit Was Given Order to Cancel Patrols in Area Where Netanyahu-Backed Hamas Entered


An Israeli Defense Forces soldier stepped forward in July 2025 and testified to the Knesset - the equivalent of the US Congress in Israel - that his unit in the elite Golani Brigade received a "strange" order from the deputy battalion commander to cancel all patrols on October 7th, along the fence where Hamas soon entered and attacked his outpost, and Israeli civilians.

The testimony corroborates reports from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, soon after the attack in 2023. Haaretz reported on December 27, 2023 in "What Happened at the Paga Outpost?":

"Before 5 A.M., a warning was received from one of the observation posts, indicating a significant interference with the border fence. The patrol was then supposed to go that spot and ascertain whether an infiltration had occurred. According to [platoon Sgt.] R., his commander forbade him from moving toward the border fence."

It is not known if Sheetrit is "Sgt. R."

Haaretz reported:

"The worry was that Israeli forces might be vulnerable to an anti-tank missile if they approached the fence."

However, if this was the case, the failure to engage Hamas allowed it time to breach the fence in greater numbers, and attack the civilians in Kibbutzim and at the music festival that the IDF was charged with protecting.
