How do you prosecute someone without the cooperation of the Justice Department? How do you prosecute someone if the President is unwilling to appoint a special prosecutor? How do you move ANY motion through the Senate if the Leader of the Senate won't let it come to a vote?

If Barack Obama really WAS interested in getting to the bottom of what happened at the IRS he would appoint a special prosecutor. Why hasn't he done so?

Since the politicians who were putting pressure on the IRS to crack down on non profits were Democrats Carl Levin, Chuck Shumer, Michael Bennet, Sheldon Whitehouse, Al Franken, Jeff Merkley, Tom Udall and Jeanne Shaheen it's hard to put forth the idea that this was something the GOP was pressuring the IRS into doing! When Barack Obama is standing in front of Congress doing his State of the Union address browbeating the Supreme Court for making it's ruling on Citizen's United it's hard to make the case that the pressure Lerner was feeling was from conservatives! This was pressure from the Left, Boo and I think you know that already...

What is WAS...was Lois Lerner releasing IRS documents in violation of IRS Code 6130 to an investigator from the FEC. This is the same Lois Lerner who had come over to the IRS FROM the FEC, getting a reputation as someone who was hard on conservative religious groups. This investigator then took the information that was provided by Lerner and presented it to the FEC Commissioners without informing them where it was obtained from.

that's the thing - it's impossible for the irs to predict what an organization will do. which means that if they're filing 501c4, they'll pretty much get approved.

what the irs got in trouble for doing was attempting to predict which groups were legitimate organizations that would engage in social welfare or bullshit fronts to engage solely in political action.
