Guessing you couldn't find that in the Constitution? It's because it's not in there, and states have variability on felons' eligibility to run for office (not federal elections). In the end, felons retain their right to seek elected positions. I don't agree with many protests that happen, but the outcome of individual rights can be offensive, and that's a beautiful thing.
