Thoughts from an Independent:

It amazes me how many half-truths and lies are told on this site by both sides. Neither red or blue states fit the descriptions the other side says about them. Examples:

I was in Nashville TN a few months ago to visit a former classmate from my teen years. We spent some time at Riverfront Park and the Railway Museum. The stories I read here from Liberals about gun toting, braindead rednecks, rampant pollution, and underfunded city services were just plain wrong. I found the people friendly and well spoken, the streets clean and in decent repair, and the city as a whole to be quite charming.

I was in San Francisco last week closing an agreement with a small medical clinic who had hired my company to do their bookkeeping and insurance billing. The stories I read here from Conservatives about people moving out in droves, illegal immigrants committing widespread crimes, and chronic homelessness was equally wrong. Our cable car trip was uneventful, Golden Gate Park was beautiful and well cared for, and our music event at the Greek Theatre at the Berkely campus was charming.

Both cities have their respective problems, of course, but both are quite livable, and both offer a wide variety of educational, business, and cultural opportunities. Maybe it's time for conservatives and liberals to admit they're not so very different after all.

One has a human-shit app that lets you know how unsanitary it is.

Uh uh. NO SALE. This "both sides are just as bad" is a leftist throwing cover for Democrats.

What you said about Nasville is true, however I have yet to hear San Francisco is not overun with human feces, drug needles, and homeless camps.

How long are you going to keep trying to pass off this total lie?

So you were nowhere near Fisherman's Wharf, Fillmore, or the Tenderloin....All three are chock full of bums doing drugs and shitting in the streets.

Not to mention your car will get broken into if you leave anything more valuable than a napkin visible.

Don't put me in the same box with those dirty stinky hippie leftists, ok bro?

Not once did he condemn either side. He just stated that neither side was as bad as the other claimed. Try going a friggin day without the mark of Cain on your forehead. Take off the Chinese made Red Cap and learn to think.

I thought you were referring to the two main stream political parties. I lived in a True Deep Blue area for quite a while.
The difference between there and when I visited an all white town 100 miles away was like another world.
When I visit Atlanta it's a racist hell hole. Not all black people there are nasty, but too many definitely are.

You are not honest.

You haven’t seen the degradation of San Francisco through the years. I lived there since 1980 and left 10 years ago.

Great news on San Fransisco. I went there as well. I parked my car 2 blocks from the upscale Union Square. When I got out, holding my baby a bum was on the sidewalk peeing with no shame for the entire city to see.

I checked into the hotel, walked to a store for water and there was a man in the entry of a business. He was sitting on the ground smoking Meth.

Just saying, until you live in the city you wont know if what you see or what you heard is true.

What is true is the crime and homeless camps. Very well documented

I will visit San Francisco again. I love the city.

Make sure you go to John's Grill, home of the Maltese Falcon and Marlon Brando

Twin Towers, Peaks? At night.

Moral of the story?

Don't give in to stereotypes, don't perpetuate them.

As a fellow independent, within 6 months of the Trump term we have the following. I am saying this as someone who voted for him. I am not an "Always Trumper" and try to look at things rationally. I am not loyal to him. I do not worship him. I do not idolize him. To do, or be any of those 3 things is insanely stupid. As Americans we ought to be loyal to the truth, and the truth alone, however much that offends either the Left or the Right. The lies of the Left Wing are insidious, cult-like, misanthropic, and a religion in it of itself. The Right has the same issues.

---

Negatives of the Second Trump Term:

  • No Epstein list, if Trump is to have ANY trust from the people he needs to release the FULL list, no redactions, no hiding anything, but this seems unlikely. This is a betrayal of the millions of people who voted for him. Demand accountability, demand the truth. I don't care who it offends, we need the truth about this.
  • Prices are still sky high, Inflation is Rampant and I have yet to see any significant price decreases
  • He wants to open up our National Forests to logging
  • Still funding Ukraine and still funding Israel, I, and a lot of other Americans want OUT of these foreign wars, and to focus on our own country for once, and start fixing ourselves. Enough is enough!
  • Bombed Iran on behalf of the Israelis (who Israel started this whole thing with Iran)
  • Has leaned heavily into the Neocons around him (Rubio, Graham, and the like), Trump has endorsed the terrible person that Graham is.
  • Massive spending bill, a lot of the stuff in this Big Bill are a lot of spending waste
  • Loyalty screenings for anti-Israeli sentiment, we shouldn't be doing this, we have the First Amendment for a good reason.
  • Reckless and stupid plans for the US to "Administer Gaza". Gaza should be handed over to some kind of council between various Middle Eastern countries, leave the US out of it.
  • Lifted various other environmental protections
  • Stupid talk about US expansionism, that just makes him look like a bumbling fool. We don't need to expand the US. We need to fix it.

Positives of the Second Trump Term:

  • Massive investment in funding ICE and border security,
  • Holding foreign countries accountable and raising Tarrifs on those who do the same to us, its only fair that we do the same that others have done for us
  • Eliminating DEI in government, something that I have been wanting to see for YEARS, enough is enough, merit is the best way to hire employees
  • Deported many illegal migrants, but its not enough, we need more to be deported, the amount of crime and drugs they bring into our country has got to stop and anyone defending illegal migrants is defending criminal terrorists
  • RFK is taking many dyes and chemical substances out of our food, why the hell we need to have that stuff in our food, when almost every other country has it banned or heavily restricted?
  • Defunded a lot of the Federal Government under DOGE, though how much that actually impacts things on the ground is tough for me to tell, and most of it is unclear but I like the spirit of the cuts

LOL....If the first thing on your "naughty list" is No Epstein List then how do you expect members to take you seriously?

San Francisco is great and I have posted that for years here. Your OP is bullshit though. There is no major liberal push to lie about the condition of red states and areas. For years the red hats make up untrue statements about blue areas and use a meme to spread lies. In response most liberals simply post data showing the poor condition of red state education and crime levels. NO ONE runs down Nashville. You made that up.

California themselves admit to a huge homeless problem. They also acknowledge that cities like San Francisco are just now starting to come out of a doom spiral and many companies have either closed or moved out due to rampant crime. Facts prove that many have been moving out of the state at an alarming rate. There have been billboards in the state begging people not to move to Texas. Sure, you can have a tour of areas that are still delightful.
