Tennis great Becker gets 2 1/2 years in prison
Tennis great Boris Becker was sentenced to 2½ years in prison Friday for illicitly transferring large amounts of money and hiding assets after he was declared bankrupt.

I have always thought that even if you have never met a prominent athlete, you can often learn a lot about their personality and even character by how they comport themselves in the competitive arena. In tennis,
Sampras: honest, controlled, competitive but not crazy
Connors: Asshole
McEnroe: Typical New Yorker
And so I've always thought that Becker was a "straight up guy," so to speak. I would not expect him to conceal his assets dishonestly.
Wrong-o.
I wonder if the British criminal justice system is as fouled up as our own, where he could stay out for years while he appeals his case. I suspect not.
