Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Greg Bovino, arguably the most public face of the Trump administration's immigration raids, is expected to retire, The Atlantic reported on Monday night.

Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Greg Bovino, arguably the most public face of the Trump administration’s immigration raids, is expected to retire, The Atlantic reported on Monday night.

Citing to people familiar with the matter, The Atlantic said Bovino has been removed from his commander post and will return to his former job in California, “where he is expected to retire soon.”

On Saturday, Border Patrol agents shot and killed 37-year-old Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. Pretti had been filming agents, one of whom shoved a woman to the ground. Pretti attempted to help the woman, but he was swarmed by agents, who took his holstered firearm, for which Pretti had a permit. After disarming him, agents shot him 10 times, killing him.

The Atlantic also reported that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and her adviser Corey Lewandowski are at risk of losing their positions.

Until it happens, I'm calling it a hoax. But even if it's not, Bovino is at least 55 years old and has been with Border Patrol since 1996. So he's definitely eligible for full retirement, and probably would have been eligible 5 years ago. I believ that's the relevant federal retirement provisions for law enforcement.

So even if he is about to retire, that may well have been planned before. With the heavy demand for immigration-related law enforcement personnel at all levels, I suspect many retirement-eligible people have been pressured to stay on longer than they'd intended..

But this does bring back the connection between Pretti and medical fraud. How much was he in it for? He's dead, so there shouldn't be any privacy barriers in investigating his involvement.

But we have our gun culture that says you can.
He was a legal carrier and had as much a right to carry a weapon as ICE
