'Book-banning crusade' across the U.S.: What does it cost American taxpayers?

Yes, they are OUR children. Not just YOURS, but every other parent that lives in the nation.

What is happening is that this radical right wing group is riling up one or two parents in a school district who start demanding books being banned from the schools and then the entire school board hast to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend freedom of speech for all parents.

This radical right wing group has a goal of shutting down public education in the United States, and they’re using these frivolous lawsuits for publicity, and to starve the system of funds.

Just like QAnon promotes itself as being opposed to paedophiles to promote its radical right wing agenda, moms against liberty are using pornography in your schools. What sort of asshole defends paedophiles or pornography or groomers. That’s what makes these campaigns so effective.

Banning books says that the state is determining what my children can read and I don’t want them determining that and neither should you.

It’s your job to keep inappropriate materials out of your kids hands and to supervise what younger children read. Banning books is asking the state to do your job.

I wish you people would be far more concerned about what young children are seeing on television. That has a far far bigger impact than anything that they have a read in books.
Wrong. They're not your children. Keep your filthy agenda to yourself

Teachers and doctors didn't get degrees to be threatened for doing their jobs.
The book banners are funded by dark money. Its a manufactured outrage. They remind me of the old crones who used to knit in the crowd at the guillotine.
I am starting to think that we should not ban any book for any reason ever.
There is a bigger threat to our society from bans than from kids learning that some girls prefer girls.
Because this isnt about banning books. Its about banning gay folk. That is the aim.

You're close. It's about keeping children innocent and protected from your filthy perversions. They're not your children.

Liberals have no “filthy agenda” FuckBoi and liberal parents have children too.

You’re saying that liberals have no rights whatsoever in determining what their children are learning school or what books they want available to their children in school libraries. Only conservative parents have rights. The rights and wishes of conservative parents supercede and outweigh the rights of every other parent in America.

If one conservative parent in the district to objects to “Kill the mockingbird” being in the school library, theirs are the only rights that matter. Out it goes.

Welcome to fascist America.

You have the right to raise your children as you wish. You wouldn't like it if I came to your house today and dragged your kids to my church.

Because they have to review it in such a fashion that the reviews can go before a court of law. And there has to be more than one review, and one opinion for the courts to look at.

Last, but not least, they can’t allow the person who made the decision to put the book on the shelf in the first place, the librarian, to conduct these reviews. The state of Florida specifically says what degrees and qualifications any person doing reviews on reading material must have in order to make decisions on behalf of the state as to what is appropriate.

Didn’t you read any of the links in the OP or do any of your own research.

The reason you clowns fall for so much bullshit is you never look into anything that these right wing hate groups are claiming. Mostly they’re just grifter groups looking for donations, but there is a real cost to the taxpayers in fending these hate groups off.

The vast majority of the parents in the school districts want these book banners run out of town for wasting their time and their money. These outside agitators to get one or two parents riled up and then they’re often running
Liar. Pretty expensive to know if ‘Gender Queer: A Memoir’ contains sexual references?

“Then, the district's director of curriculum will coordinate a team of people, consisting of a school principal, administrators, teachers, counselors and/or library media specialists to "review the material that is the source of the complaint," according to the district's policy. "This process might involve reviewing the material, reading the material in whole, etc. This process timeline will vary depending on the complexity of the review of the material," district records show. "For example, the reading of a library book will need additional time provided for the reading of the entirety of the book."

A simple scanner can find words and references. This is the age of AI. Pay me $150,000 to check 23 books.
