Bomb Found in Italy After Blair's Berlusconi Visit
26 minutes ago
ROME (Reuters) - Italian police said on Wednesday they had defused a bomb near the Sardinian holiday villa of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, hours after a visit by British Premier Tony Blair (news - web sites).
Police said they were looking for a second bomb after a local leftist group said it had planted two devices.
A warning was made in a phone call to Sardinian newspaper L'Unione Sarda at 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday by someone claiming to be from the Proletarian Nuclei for Communism (NPC), a radical group active on the island.
According to national daily Corriere della Sera, the NPC is an "anarcho-separatist" group which has undertaken 20 attacks in the last four years, including small bombings of government party headquarters in Sardinia.
