he is right...they claim 64 mph is done by the bigger stronger 12 year olds...this kid was doing 80?....

NO 12-YEAR-OLD can throw a baseball 80mph. Period.

That pitcher is a ringer. We have seen this before when a kid from the Philippines was throwing 75, and it turned out he was 15.

How can anyone prove it? 80mph is bullshit.
But he was only 6'2" tall........

My brother could throw a baseball that fast when he was 12.

Here is my frame of reference. My son played traveling BB. Over the course of a couple years, we clocked probably a hundred pitchers, virtually all of them 12 years old, and all of them the best pitchers in their respective organizations. The fastest kid we saw was throwing 68mph. Low to mid-60's was common - but remember, these kids were the best pitchers in their local organizations.

For those familiar with statistics, 80mph would be so many Standard Deviations above the norm as to be one in several million. 80 in LL (46') is the equivalent of an MLB pitcher throwing 105mph.

Cheating. No other explanation.

I remember a White kid throwing over 80 mph at the LLWS like 20 years ago. It happens, but yes there have been a couple older kids caught cheating at the LLWS. The Taiwanese boy looked 12 to me FWIW. 82 mph WOW!

I thought back in the 70s the radar measured the ball as it crossed the plate, and the newer technology measures the speed as it leaves the pitcher's hand...that would explain the difference.

Taiwan won many Championships in the past by cheating. Little League keeps quiet. As for any others who won with getting away with it. Pitching wins championships first. Although other positions help.

But they have a 'Certificate of Live Birth' showing age 12, so he's legit!
