Hopefully the focus will be on the opportunities and achievements of the last 50 years and not the grievances of slavery and the Jim Crow era.

Many African Americans alive today have lived during Jim Crow Era.

Similarly, my parents lived in USSR during the time of semi-official policy of anti-Semitic discrimination. My mother suffered the most due to her anti-Semitic boss.

Nevertheless, anti-Semitism in USSR was much less overt and prevalent then Racism in USA.

For Black people, Black History Month should be a time of putting pressure on US politicians to approve reparations for the descendants of African slaves.
It would be very difficult to determine who should receive reparations, and who should be first in line. Fat and/or ugly, and/or handicapped people of all races have been discriminated against forever.

Every month is white history month in the USA.
Well....

It will be easy to see who is entitled to reparations.
Why? Because they have dark skin? There are lots of "whites" with black genetics, almost all American-born Blacks are part white. Slave owners were screwing a lot of black women over the years. Do Black immigrants who came here after 1865 qualify for reparations? Neither they nor their ancestors were slaves after all.

No idea huh? Your OP suggests it's to focus on "opportunities and achievements of the past 50 years."

Please confirm and expound.
The primary purpose of Black History Month is to celebrate black achievements, not rehearse grievances.
